Anyone Up For Another Bhq Get Together?

The rangers there seemed really kickback so I doubt they'll bother you about sparkys unless you're asking for it.  I don't have em either and haven't gotten checked yet.  Out here, I've never heard of anyone getting a ticket because the rangers didn't find the USFS approval number.  Every instance I've heard of the rangers just stuck something into the pipe and if it stops they let you off.  I took a few cotter pins and stuck them though the core of my FMF's.  I keep a long bolt with me in camp so if they stop and ask I can just shove the bolt in and show em.  Also it helps that I have a reciept that shows I just bought the bike so if they wanna nail me for a modified spark arrestor I can try the "it was this way when I bought it" line.  Probably won't work but its worth a try.  I got the impression that the rangers were there mostly to keep people from riding 60mph through somebody's camp, dodging kids while not wearing a helmet and drinking from a bottle of Jack and toking on a bong.  If you've got something illegal about your bike, just be respectful and courteous and try not to draw any attention to yourself.  Its worked for me so far.

thats what ive found also, they realize sand has a pretty hot "ignition" point.....unlike riding up the hill by my house, where the fires were, they catch you with no sparky and the rangers having a bad day he will simply impound your bike.......i run the forestry approved stinger, he just see's the sticker on the stinger and doesnt mess with me.....

The chance to meet some of the best people on the board... A full throttle, eye watering, shot up a dune to twist the bars, showering sand into a perfect roost, to then come back down the hill at blistering speeds..........Ride in some of the best dunes in North America, With one of the best atv's ever made :) Nahhhh I wouldnt shame ANYONE into that!

Whats the regulations on bringing a gun to Cali? I got about 400 rounds of .44 mag left, and might be interested in shooting the big bores with you guys.

You hafta have at least 398 rounds on you at all times, and make sure it's loaded. I'm holding back on the gangsta sarcasm, guess it's "caliber envy" cause the best I can manage is takin' my little Ruger 10-22

make damm sure the ammo and gun are at oppisite sides of the truck, and the chambers empty.......i lock mine in a little gun case so the man knows full well im not ready to brandish it......you dont have to worry in cali if you do get pulled over most cops have there gun drawn, so he can blast you first....

Boon, Spoin, I have a regular cab Duramax that'll pull a house. Pushing over 900lbs/torque..... :D Here what I'm thinking....If we get a enclosed trailer then we can camp out in the trailer.....Why not?? Better than tents...We can build an outhouse w/ a tarp or tent....rent a motel room here and there and take showers...If 5 of us go, then expenses shouldn't be bad at all... JKJK said he'll fly, if I pull his shee and help w/ gas....I have all kinds of trailers, but no large enclosed ones....I have a 16' open, 10' open, and a 12' snowmobile enclosed.....I can take my small trailer to your house and drop my small one off and hook up to your larger one??? Some people could possibly ride in the trailer also if you want to stay w/ one vehicle.......get some 2-way radios to communicate from truck to trailer.....hehe....I don't know..I'm just brainstorming, but let me know what you think......Driving day and night, we'll be there in 2 days....

Oh ya, my duramax gets 17mpg w/ no trailer, not sure w/ trailer, I'm guessing 12-15 depending on driving..... :o

I only have a 6'9"W/12'L trailer so the only way to get them all on is to take a couple of tires off, no big deal but it's open. I don't have access to a large enclosed. I am willing to listen to any ideas to get us out there. I rode with Mrmatt today at the badlands in Indiana, and he said he wants to go, maybe he has a trailer to use. He didn't have one with him today though. By the way, his wife can ride too! Man I wish I had a woman that wanted to ride........Hell,I wish I had a woman!

B370, you have email. Sign my wife and me up! :D We might also be joined by a friend. We plan to head out on Wednesday morning and drive through the night, hopefully getting there on Thursday afternoon. We'll camp in tents for a couple of the nights. But we are going to have to find a hotel for some decent sleep and showers at least once. We plan to head back East on Sunday morning. Hopefully getting home early enough that we can go to work on Tuesday.

As far as the wife, let me just say that I am one lucky SOB. You should see her when she is not wearing the camoflage coveralls :P.

I'm not so lucky when it comes to trailers. I do not know anybody with an enclosed trailer. I have a small trailer barely big enough for two quads that my wife and I will use. If my friend is able to make the trip then we'll probably use his 20' car trailer. I might be able to get a 16' or 18' car trailer if you guys really need one, but I can't guarantee it.

Looks like I'll be bringing the hand cannon. I have an aluminum attache case for the gun, and a bullet box that I can lock. I'll just make sure the clips are unloaded and in the bullet box.

I don't think I'll have room for anything to shoot up though. I plan on bringing as much fire wood as my truck can handle with my banshee in the bed. I have a long bed, so I should be able to have room for 4-5 gas jugs, tons of fire wood, etc.

If things go well, I should have my tax return to me before the middle of Feb. If thats the case, you can put my name on that list 3 times Walt.

Hey Mrmatt, if for some reason the trip doesn't work out for boon, fixitrod, and I could I hitch a ride? We can take my trailer and I'll be more than happy to help with the gas and driving. Just trying to keep my options open like we talked about. By the way, it was good to meet you and the wife, that girl can ride better than I can, which isn't really saying much but it was cool to see both of you riding together. That dragstrip was fun, I like to watch you guy's go at it.

Theeechozen1, what days you got in mind for travel and riding? Just looking at the calander, the 4th is a Thursday and the 7th is a Sunday...

It'll take me a day drivin' to get to PHX, so if I left here Tuesday, we could head out Wed and be ridin' Thursday...or should I leave Wed and we roll from Phoenix Thurs, be riding Fri? Or I could leave earlier, no biggie just need to figure it out.

And the return trip, you want to leave Sunday and head to Phoenix (I'd drive home from there Monday and be at work Tuesday)? Or bail Monday?

I was kinda thinking leavin here Tues, we ride Dumont Thurs, Fri, Sat, and head out Sunday, but I'm open to suggestions. I'm was thinkin' at least 2-3 days riding...

BTW still not sure on the truck but for now you can count on at least room for 1 quad and 1 person riding shotgun (it'll just be me driving and my quad in the truck bed, and an 8' open trailer)...hopefully I'll find out soon on the 4-door truck and longer trailer...
