Trip to the Dragstrip (just sharing result)

So I went to the strip weekend after labor day to get a time but they had a bunch of cars there since it was a race weekend. Only was able to get one run, then i had some tranny issues.. Bike ran a 6.6 at 92  or 93mph (dont have slip in front of me). 60ft was horrible. 1.56. Tires ran were 18x10x10 A.R. and they did not hook well. They were spinning all through 1st. I ran 17/38 gearing and got out of throttle about 10ft before the finish line.

I made some changes before the the track visit. I am now running a +10 swinger and drag axle. I am 200lbs. When i ran the plus 6 stock style swinger (heavier) with stock axle the bike would hook great on the street. Im thinking I need to go back to the +6 so my weight is more over the tires. I will play with the +10 a lil while longer to see if I can get it to hook like before. I did go to alky and drag port also. I purchased 20x8x10 A.R. too see if that will help. Not sure when I will get back to the track but my main focus will be the 60ft time. I want to see what time it will get when it is hooking before i mess with lockup. I will be trying different gear setups as well.

Update:

Visited the track last week and wanted to share some progress.

Set up:

Went from 18 inch A.R. to 20 inch A.R. (6psi)

power Jets opened all the way (it was below 50 degrees)

205lb rider

Results:

60ft 1.48

1/8   6.3

mph 102mph

With proper tuning of carbs and clutches, I should see better results. Now its time to read the clutch tuning thread

gearing was 18/38.....5th gear was stretched out and Im sure I held it longer than I should have. I switched to 36 in the rear but did not get a chance to test it at the track. too many cars and then one leaked fluid the entire length of track...smh. The 36 will give me plenty of pull through the entire 1/8th.

Wow man, total testament to tried and true tuning. You gained several tenths on the 60', 3 tenths off the ET, and about 10mph. Good stuff man!
