n2otoofast4u
Have you split cases?
n2otoofast4u
I've got it hard time believing that an aluminum case will wear down a steel weld to the point of failure. Normally that will result in a bunch of aulm filings

Bipolarbanshee
It's not straight cut gears, stock gears are cut angled right? You know what happens with stock gears and no retainers? The crank gets pulled through like turning a bolt Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

n2otoofast4u
And you're 100% positive the crank bearing retainers weren't installed??
Bipolarbanshee
If they were then where the hell are they at? If they broke then half would be in the case and half would be in the crank. There is not a retainer in this motor Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Starwriter
Something really fishy here. I'm with n2o on this. There is no way the aluminum case ground away all of the weld. It would have to grind a significant amount of steel off the web all the way around. The weld should be at least 1/16" into the web and pin. It's not just piled on the outside. Even if you took a hard disk grinder and ground 1/8" off the web and pin, there still isn't going to be looseness between the web and pin. It's a really tight press fit all the way through.
