10milmike
Ok Alky guys. I have never ran Alky on my drag bike, I always Ran Vp 110 or Q16, My buddy Angel set up carbs bored my 38 pwks to 40mm. PJ is drilled to a .101 and the dumps are 120 and pilot jets are 65, Mattoon bowls and took out a float. Now these are not pumper carbs so I am just running a pingel. I started the bike friday it fired right up. Sounded great. I let it run for a few min then I shut off the pingel. The bike started to full rev out of control. I pulled the tether and it would not shut off. I then pulled the spark plug caps off and it would still not shut off. It rev for about 2min till I pulled a plug out. I know it was a lean out. I Thought shit I just burned a hole in my piston. I pulled the head and I was lucky no damage at all. I put the head back on did a comp test and it was 160 in each jug. So should I run a pingel Guzzler because on the track I do not want the bike to lean out on me.
dozer
if it starts to run away the best thing to do is pull the tether and hold throttle wide open. as long as there is fuel goin to the carbs it will drowned it out. id run the guzzler just to be safe. 10milmike
See the thing is I shut the pingel off so it leaned out . I never had that problem on q16 before. It's was a leaning experience. Never shut off the pingel.

trickedcarbine
You killed the electrical and it kept going. That is dieseling.... Could be other issues. But if it won't shut off with kill switch or lack of fuel that sounds sketchy. Have you fired it since and left the fuel going while trying the kill switch? sprinklerman
That's not uncommon on alky. It's good practice to butt the bike against a wall and make sure your chain is on when you 1st start fooling with alky. That way you can avoid a runaway by just popping it in gear. 10milmike
Yes. I have done it two times now. It shuts off fine. But I know it was a lean out. I have heard it happen to people before I just never had it happen till friday.
sleeper06
Did you drill out your pilot circuit also I'm running same set up as you and never had issues my lil 4 mil stock cylinder like .1225 on the dumps/ mains running that kind of distance it's one thing to be a lil lean at 300ft but string it out 660 could be and issue, watch your pipe and cylinder temps and read your plugs
10milmike
Dumps are 120 and so are mains. I will going friday to dyno tune it on alky.
