91coupemike
The the 'shee I got the other day was suppose to be a 420cc, but it's actually a 353. Stock length hot rod rod ck 121 Wiseco 64.5mm piston 19cc domes in the cool head. Stock reeds Keihin pwk 28mm carbs w/ k&n pods Stock intake Toomey t5s I took it apart to find out what it was, going to hone the jugs, throw in some new rings, upgrade the water pump impeller and enjoy it for a while. I'm at 600ft elevation. Given those specs what fuel would you say I should use? Do I really need to wait and do a compression check first? Guesstimate? Any idea on where to start on carb jetting? I haven't taken my carbs apart yet. Had the quad for less then a week and it's already in pieces! Lol Thanks in advance.
trickedcarbine
Any idea what type of port work is done? Exhaust has some factor in this. Also what is the cranking compression?
91coupemike
Not sure on cranking compression as I just took it apart to see what it was. I believe no porting, just stock cylinders. Here's a pic for you guys that know.
Currie Motorsports
with a 19 CC dome and no port works the compression is going to be really high you would probably be better off with a 22cc
sheerider11
Just get different domes and run pump. Cheaper and easier
Finch
Just get different domes and run pump. Cheaper and easier yep!
trickedcarbine
Currently you need good race gas. If you want pump fuel, the fellas are right about getting new domes if that's the case
91coupemike
I'm not worried about race gas, I need to keep some on hand anyways. Upping the shot on my mustang so I need to keep some on hand to mix with 93 for added safety. So if I go through a few gallons in my quad, no big deal.. For now at least lol. C16? What do you guys use?
91coupemike
Once I get the top end together I'll some jetting questions as well, this is my first quad to ever play with.. So far so good.. Fighting the urge to just tip my wallet over and let the fun begin...
WINDYCITYJOHN400
Fighting the urge to just tip my wallet over and let the fun begin... That's not something you LET happen. It just happens. But the bike dictates the budget. LOL
trickedcarbine
^ that is so true. C12 is pretty average. I've messed with it all the way up to the C16 and even tried a few of their oxygenated blends. Q16 just seemed to need more compression then nesaccary in my opinion. At least when it comes to these little twins. Lately I've had great results with the oxygenated VP113. Pretty sweet stuff.
91coupemike
Just a guess how much power should I expect from my quad? 45-50hp at best? Would 100octane aviation fuel work? My uncle works at the local airport, so that would be convenient. When running race fuel still the normal 32:1? I have 2 bottles of redline 2cycle oil. I imagine I'm going to need to rejet for the change in fuel?
91coupemike
How hard is it to jet for e85? I'm about to drown myself in google. Any cons?
91coupemike
Ya, screw that. Cycle center sells renegade fuels, I'll just pick up a jug from them.
nastyracing
100ll will work for you up to about 180psi cranking compression. you are going to need to re jett due to the heavier specific gravity of a aviation fuel... ive seen that the av gas runs leaner or you are going to want bigger jets with it. I get it at 5.50 a gallon so its definetly my choice in fuel
