theputz
I built my motor two years ago and have been very happy with it. After two years I want a little more... My buddy has built up is YFZ and now I need to step it up. Here is what I got so far: 421 Serval Noss head with FAST 24CC domes 35MM Kehin Carbs (160 mains, 48 pilots, CEL needle in middle clip) VForce 4 UPP Intakes with stock crossover tube Snipe Pipes FAST Clutch Mattoon Timing plate @ +4 94 Octane gas with Klotz R50 Would I benefit from smaller domes, race gas, porting and 39 mm carbs? What kind of gains would I expect?
sprinklerman
A good 15hp. On a good tune you're probably at 75hp. Redline hot me 90hp/50TQ, while gaining midrange.
locogato11283
I'm with Twinklerman.. You're missing out on about 15HP. Carbs - $350 Porting - $200?? Domes - $100 Right now the best bang for your buck is to do these three things. The rest of your setup is solid.
trickedcarbine
Put the above changes on the motor after you set up a 450 frame for a banshee motor....
chuck81673
I was running the same exact set up as yours last year, but with Shearers. I had mine ported over the winter by Redline and new domes cut. I'm very happy with it and was well worth the money. It pulls harder and doesn't drop off as fast as a cast serval. I'm still on pump gas too.
theputz
I don't see many running 39mm carbs or race gas. Are any of you?
trickedcarbine
Ya, a few.
chuck81673
With the porting, Im still running 35s, but running race gas for me is an inconvenience.
sprinklerman
I don't see many running 39mm carbs or race gas. Are any of you?39s rock on a Serval. If you can afford 100LL or racegas, you can go a little more aggressive on the porting and still keep (or gain) bottom and midrange.
locogato11283
There's a dyno chart on the Redline website that shows 88HP/50TQ on a 4mm Serval with porting, custom pump gas domes and 35mm PWK. http://redlineracing.biz/dyno-graphs/ It's the first one in the third row. gusto
Are tricked out 450s as fast as your serval now?
theputz
Ya. I lost to a handful of 450s. The difference is it cost them a lot more money to get there and for a small investment I am certain I could be out front again.
