Durf4693
Buddy of mine is stumped. with a power drill turning over the flywheel the bike will have great spark until it speeds up and loses spark. We've tried a working cdi box, he has a new coil and plugs and wires, no tors and no parking brake. Cleaned ground by cdi box. He has tried 2 stators( one brand new and one fairly new ) that he has hooked up and they both do the same thing. Just looking for another lead to figure it out
jbooker82
OEM stators or junk china stators?
sheerider11
Pick up gap?
Starwriter
Why are you turning it with a drill? Why not start it and see what happens?
bluebanshee98
Start the bike. If it runs and can rev pretty good in neutral but when you go to ride it breaks up right when it hits the pipe your spark plug caps are probably bad
Durf4693
I'm pretty sure they are aftermarket ones. The pick up gap is good. He's turning it with a drill bc he knows it's not gonna run right bc it loses spark( it will start up but won't rev up ) he has a new coil, wires n caps on it
03DMshee
Does it still have the parking brake? And or the wire still in the harness for it? Check for a green with yellow striker wire at the CDI and remove that from the CDI plug...then give it a whirl
Durf4693
Yes parking brake is off the bike. He's checkin the wire now Edited September 1, 2014 by Durf4693
Durf4693
Removing wire didn't work ....
sheerider11
Are you sure the drill is fast enough to make spark? I can't see a drill turning a bike at over 1-200 rpm. And even that seems like a stretch
Durf4693
Yeah it sparks good then all of a sudden stops
Durf4693
New lead- china stator isn't putting out as much power as the oem one on my bike. So that will be next, thanks for the input guys
