9498banshee
Ok... Its been a long time since I've been on this site. But I've had good luck with a trail ported machine that has been very reliable and very low cost to keep up on. I am wanting to build a 4mm stroker atleast i think i do. All I ride is trails and some hills but nothing serious.... I love the low end grunt of a 4 stroke but I religously ride my banshee everywhere. I own 2 4 strokes and they just collect dust. So what do i need to build a low end grunt banshee. I'm looking to buy a vito's 4mil seeing how i need a crank anyway but do i go with a bigbore stroker or stock cylinder stroker? Buy a 4mm Serval if you're dead set on stopping at 4mm. If not, I'd do a 10 mm Serval. ..but that's more money. Either would be superior to a vitos kit. Sorry. Misread. You meant you're buying a vitos 4mm crank? If so, I'd do a strong stock cyl 4mm or a 4mm Serval. Not a bigbore stock cyl.
trickedcarbine
Definitely go for the 4mm. If you can afford the aftermarket mono jug stuff I'd say go for it. In the end it makes for stupid power with reliability if done right. Look at pump gas 421 servals. They easily trump the out put of stock cyls on race fuel with lots of timing and compression. 9498banshee
Ok Thanks for your input... I can't spend the cash not for a monblock, So I am leaning towards a 4mm long rod stock cylinder with a port job and stroker domes.. and maybe some 30mm carbs
SandSlingerOR
Skip the 30's & just get 28's along with some pc pipes or maybe fmf's.
bluebanshee98
Is there a deadline for your build? Why not save up and make a much better motor that will fill your thirst for awhile instead of spending more to do it again sooner then later? There has been some nice work going on with the serval cylinders on pump. You have other bikes to ride or just keep what you have till you saved up then make the move on the motor IMO. Have you invested any $ into shocks? If you can save up to make a 4mil build you can save up to get the aftermarket cylinders...
trickedcarbine
Ya, good point on the chassis. My buddy Scott has an 85 horse monster on my bench right now and we have to shove it in my bike to dial it in since he's a slacker on buying new bushings and hardware, pads, arms, shocks, yards yadda...... Really he thought we could just slap it in a molested 96 with new paint on everything. I let him ride mine and he quickly re thought his plan. 9498banshee
OK you make a very valid point. and yes i do have another banshee that is ported for trails. and i do have aftermarket shocks. but with all the different combinatons I was really looking for ideas on what is the best for my riding style. $1300 is just a shit ton of money for me just to stick into cylinders. It would be nice to find a used serval but that will probably never happen. I do love the fact that particular motor build would be tits for where i ride... I have a set of FMF fattys for it. Another problem is I just got this machine on a hellva good deal just last friday so yeah i have time

( I don't know how many bores your cyls have left).

Another problem is I just got this machine on a hellva good deal just last friday so yeah i have time1300 isn't a lot considering some top ends of bigger engines cost around 3k new. If you want top of the line performance you have to dish out a good amount of cash. Usually when you have a budget sometimes it's around 3x as much for a compete thorough build (chassis pipes carbs Ect Ect) and you even said it yourself that you have another banshee to ride.... So with that in mind why settle for less? You could have this great woods beast that you always wanted and you'll love it that much more having it when it's done correctly. From personal experience I went from a bolt on bike to a ported 4 mil. I loved it at first but grew out of it quick and was already looking for ways of more power. Then I jumped to a 10mil. I could of saved a lot if I went straight to 10. This is just an example but it shows that when you have the "bug" it hits hard and you'll be searching for ways of more power before you know it
trickedcarbine
Work more if it's about money. I bet you actually could find a used serval in the FS section. Quite a few serval part outs.
