Cunningham94
Hey guys I recently bought a ported motor from my cousin that has a slingshot style lockup in it. I love the way it pulls but is extremely hard to shift under full power. Could this be because of the nature of the beast or am I using wrong type of fluid? Type f atf is what I'm running. Could it be that there too many balls in it causing it to remain locked? It shifts if I let off the throttle, but sometime will shift when I'm full throttle. It's a stock tranny as far as I know. Any help is appreciated.
sheerider11
A stock trans won't shift WFO normally unless adjusted perfect and all fresh parts. It also sounds like your trying to ride it like an over ride. Are you pulling in the clutch to shift? And if you are, why aren't you letting off the throttle? trickedcarbine
If the trans is stock and the motor is making any decent power, it already doesn't stand a chance to shift smooth under full throttle. Add the lock up and it just magnifies the problem. You definitely need actual trans work. There are basic trans mods like just milling every other dog in the gears and other bolt on goodies that replace factory stuff that really make a difference. Pro mod/stock cut Modded shift shaft Modded shift star Shift detent arm with bearing Detent spring Drum bearing mod Pancake bearing Good fresh basket and inner hub Clutch cable Clutch perch and lever It's really all a package. trickedcarbine
fuck that. If someone dosent have a feel for it, I don't advise it Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk People who don't really ride get on my bike all the time and I just tell them one or the other and it's consistant. It's from WCR and it's got some stuff I don't see on a lot of the ProMods I've seen lately. Now that Greg is a fuck stick, only trans I'll run is the Black Majic from CamATV. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Talked to a guy with one who I find to be very critical about every detail in life. If he rides it the way he does and is happy with the shifting that's good enough for me. But I had him email me some detailed photos of it torn apart last year and after seeing a few things on par with my WCR trans, that you WILL NOT see on most other Pro mod trannys. That's enough to make me totally confident. Edited August 26, 2014 by trickedcarbine
Cunningham94
On my other motor which was just bolt ons and a fast racing clutch, I could snap the clutch quickly with it full throttle and shift, only did it when drag racing. So you guys are telling me is that I'm just exceeding a stock trannys capabilities?
