BANSHEEBEEFM2M
So I bent a shift fork.. and wanna make her faster when we tear it down... it's a longrod stock stroke 370 dune ported on alky now... If I go to a 4 mill or 7 mill maybe even 10mill can I use those jugs or do I have to start over with a stock set?? I do have a stock virgin set that just needs a bore. Is it even worth building a big stock cylinder motor anymore? What about the athena cylinders? Anybody got anything good to say about those? Have a billet badket, lockout, override, would anything else need to be beefed up to handle the power? I have 38mm alky carbs, big bore cpis, I'd like to still use the same carbs/pipes possibly, let me know thanks
trickedcarbine
4mm would be easiest if the porting and cylinders are salvageable. Nay on the Athena's. For the money you would be ahead messing with cp stuff. Used cubs are everywhere. You could even find a stock stroke cub, but I get that you may just want more then that since it's apart. m671054
Maybe on the recoat. ask who is going to port it. X2 on getting a fork window installed. i think you will bend or burn up more than 1 fork in your life. Whats your budget?
BANSHEEBEEFM2M
Idk... I'd like to stay under 2500 if possible
shanYE west
10 cub is about 3-400 more (trenching and crank) then a 421. gains should be 5-7 more HP over a 421 when both are setup right. . I dont remember.. but the 10cub casting might be more also over a 421..
BANSHEEBEEFM2M
A ten mill will only make 5 to 7 hp over a 421? How much hp can I get out of a drag ported alky stock cylinder 10 mill?
shanYE west
dont mess with a stock cylinder 10mil.. the price is more then its worth. A lot of machine work will be involved. Typical well setup 421's range from 110-115 465's range from 115-120. My old 421 and my brothers 465 were about 6hp different on the same dyno.
