The guy got the bike on a trade a few years back and it has been sitting in his garage every since. He is an older (wealthy) gentleman and just wants to get rid of it so I will be picking it up for a steal. 5 hrs on the motor. He says it is a 500cc but when asked if its 485cc or 535cc kit he has no clue. He claims that the motor and everything was a cost to the tune of 8K. And from the pictures I see - I can already identify about 2k worth of parts. - Stage 5 exhaust - Aftermarket Mikuni Carbs (not sure mm?) - Billet deep carb bowls - Billet clutch cover - billet stator cover - Billet stage 5 head - K&N Filters - Crank is stroked but he doesn't know how big All from trinity http://postimg.org/image/d6nfe8ycl/ http://postimg.org/image/m2y7i6oyt/ http://postimg.org/image/weakaugo5/ Is there anyway I can identify the size of the motor without opening it up? Like i said - older rich guy who doesn't want something that fast So this thing doesn't have trinity motor in it? How can you tell? Why would he have those big @ss carbs on it and other trinity sh!t if nothings going on. THANKS FOR THE FEEDBACK!!! That can definitely be a pretty hot running little motor if it's ported well and dialed in. I would go over there and show this guy this thread to show him he's lost. And if he was conned, then he's an idiot for not doing exactley the same research you are. To check size, you gotta get a view of the number on the piston for the bore size. At the very minimum, you can check stroke easily though. Run a dowl down the spark plug hole and rotate the motor over and mark the dowel at it's highest and lowest point. Measure it in MIllimeters. 54mm is stock stroke, 58mm is 4mm stroke, 61mm is 7mm stroke. With that set up there won't be anything bigger in there. Plastics and rims are from different years, so it coukd be and older bike with newer plastics or newer bike with older wheels. What octane fuel does it need? How can you trust the answer? Black trinity pipes, IMS motorcycle shifter?.....that's some old shit! Was it ever jetted correctly? Trinity head = Trinity domes. Do a search on that topic! LOL Too many questions.......... trickedcarbine Posted August 7, 2014 Report Share Posted August 7, 2014 The sides of the cylinders look to have a little weld on them from the pix. It is a mod you used to see pretty commonly before all the aftermarket cylinders came out. Guys would build up the aluminum by tig welding over the area the ports flow through the cylinder. Thus, allowing more material to be removed inside the transfer ports. For all we could know, that motor could run great, but no one knows, and what you've been told so far has been total garbage. Showed him the thread and he was cool about it and got a chance to learn as well. If anyone in Chicagoland has a banshee for trade let me know or else ill be back when I pick one up.
