lowidenfast
Hey guys, looking for recommendations on all purpose trail/mx tires in 20x11/10. I ride all types of terrain but mostly hard pack red clay, rocky terrain and occasionally very loose silt / sand mixture. I stay away from mud except when it's completely unavoidable in trails etc. I have particularly terrible traction in the loose stuff with my current tires, the Artrax MXT, and they are getting pretty worn so it's time to start thinking about replacing them. I've read reviews on what people have had the best luck with, just can't seem to find some of them in the right size for my wheels. I am pretty sure my wheels and hubs are for a Honda, the hubs are a lot larger than the Yamaha hubs. I also checked the tires for sale section on here but it's mostly paddles or tires for smaller diameter wheels. Any tire advice or even recommendations for a particular retailer would be much appreciated. Thanks
trickedcarbine
Traction and 10" tall wheel really don't mesh well in the same thought. Are you against maybe buying an entire set of tires already mounted?
locogato11283
Hmm. I run 12" wheels and have LOTS of traction.
camatv
honda pattern is like 4x110 yamaha is 4x115. does it have a honda rear axle? if your not sure post a picture of the BACK of the bike. 10" wheels kinda suck. if it was me i would look into a 9" wheel in maybe a kenda klaw or the trail one with lots of distance between the lugs. plus your never really going to have arm ripping sand paddle like traction on hard pack clay... i dont know whats the BBD right meow but thats the tire i liked. also the OEM kfx450 tires worked well also. red96shee
I was kinda wondering the same thing as lowidenfast except i have 18 11/10's and i am havin a real hard time findin tires that size. Anybody have any ideas?
lowidenfast
Not sure about the bolt pattern. It had 20x11x9 wheels/tires on it when i bought it but I got myself into some trouble with the old twist throttle and smacked a tree. The accident bent a wheel and hub so I bought some hubs, and a 20x11/10 wheel/tire package from a forum member. These hubs are much larger than what was on it originally. I asked him what they came off of and he didn't know. I'd hate to buy wheels, tires and hubs all over again. I have one good 9' beadlock wheel and one good hub, which seems to be 4x115. I just eyeballed the ones I am running with a tape measure and I think they are 4x150 or something close to that. It's hard to get a good measurement without removing the wheel. I'll see if I can get some pics tomorrow Camatv - In all the tires I've seen get good reviews, I've noticed that the lugs are spaced far apart, nothing like the traditional MX style tires. I pretty much know what to look for, just having trouble finding much to choose from in this size that look promising. I think the iRazr's come in my size but I may be confused after looking at so many today. I know they are way too expensive tho

locogato11283
This guy............. Get some roller skate dubs for the sand bike yet? Yea, but I have fender flares so it doesn't look as noticeable.
locogato11283
To the original poster.. You NEED to run 9" wheels. There are far more tire options for a 9" rim than any other size. I recommend Douglas .190 wheels with Ohtsu MR501 tires for your application. You're welcome.
trickedcarbine
Yea, but I have fender flares so it doesn't look as noticeable.Nice, the flares will keep you legal in the dune states.
Larry's Shee
Could be the 4x156x10 that was only on 89 (90?) banshee. IIRC, there is a Polaris that use that pattern on rear, not that it helps with tire selection.
lowidenfast
Thanks for the advice guys. lesson learned - the 10" wheels are just not ideal for my application. I think I'll buy another 9" beadlock to match the good one that I have and a set of used hubs with the proper bolt pattern (actually only need one of those as well) so I can use the tires that came on it originally. They're not exactly what i want but they have ~80% tread left so they'll do for now and then I'll be in good shape when I have the funds to buy the right tires. I was planning on putting some money into the engine this winter and now I just discovered that my rear shock is leaking oil so that's going to be priority #1 now. Probably keep the 10" wheels/hubs/tires for screwing around on the street etc.

lowidenfast
May just stick with the wheels/hubs I have for now and upgrade over the winter. Anyone have any experience with either of these? They come in 20x11/10. The Artrax are cheap too $57 each $75 each
