naoh05
Ok I get it... But then y would my dad say if I go 13/43 I would be able to pull the dune in 4th gear? Wouldn't I be able to in a different gearing?

possum
your dad is onto something. Sounds like he has a clue. On smaller motors I like 16-17 /41 running 1st to 3rd up hills. might be an option. So uour not shifting every half second and still get that mph up
WINDYCITYJOHN400
Some people are saying things in the street about a 13 t front sprocket being bad for the chain. Any truth to that? More teeth on the drive sprocket shares load over more of the chain. But low power bikes that need the gearing aren't really a threat to chain life as much as bikes with Mas Powers. CottonBranchRacing
We put 100 hp on a 13tooth sprocket, it wasn't the chain that went bad it was the sprocket itself CottonBranchRacing
WINDYCITYJOHN400
This is DDQ's bike tho. 37HP isn't going to eat a sprocket. I know a guy who ran a 12 for a few seasons.
