Cunningham94
Hey guys I just picked up a rb racing ported complete engine, stock stroke, with v force 3 reeds and a slingshot lock up for a heck of a deal. The engine was set up with 35mm alky carbs with pro circuit pipes. I didn't get the pipes or carbs as I have not intentions of running alky or those pipes. Im gunna run my fmf sst's from my current motor and my v force 4 reeds, and stock carbs. What's a good starting point for mains? Elevation is around 800 ft and ride in 70 degree weather. I was thinking start around 360?
WINDYCITYJOHN400
Racing ported alky motor.........with SST pipes strapped to it because it's what you have laying around? Smells like Fail.
Cunningham94
I'm not gunna run alcohol, that's just what he used, just giving back ground info on it. He originally had it on pump gas, which is what I will be goin back to.
BUILDER
360 mains are way to big! I would start at a 330 and work from there. You changing domes or just putting gas carbs on it??
Cunningham94
It doesn't have a cool head but the head has been milled, unfortunately I have not been able to do a compression check as its not in the bike, but I bought it from a relative, and it has run on pump gas, he just doesnt remember the exact jetting
willaduncan
The compression reading is gonna tell you whether you will need to run higher octane or not you might need to get a cool head and some close to stock domes to run pump Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Cunningham94
Yeah I know that, I tried to get it put in my frame tonight, but it was pretty dirty so I'm gunna wash it in the parts washer tomorrow and get it mounted, do I need to install reeds carbs and pipes in order to get an accurate compression reading? Cunningham94
I have 175 psi in both cylinders, looks like I may have to run straight race gas or a mix, im gunna call rb racing today and see what they have to say
