banshee370
Questions for all the Dumont regulars........ I can see that Baker is the closest town to the dunes. How big of a town is it and what is available there? I'll be renting a motorhome in Vegas and may need a dump station and a place to top off the water tanks. Can you ride from the dunes to the Amargosa River? Should I bring a set of dirt tires? Ive been told that there are NO vendors or shops to buy anything at the dunes. (like at Glamis) Is this true? Any tips or info that I should know? Anyone want to have another BHQ ride at Dumont like the one in Glamis?? The dates have already been set for March 3rd to March 7th 2004. If no one wants to make it a "BHQ" ride your still more than welcome to join us.

Anyone??? i have to see it first, lol....bakers a little town north of barstow, south of vegas, completly setup for the traveler, its a popular stop between vegas and LA, Orange and san bernadino counties, you will need to bring your own provisions to dumont among those should include your dirt tires(theres tons of desert riding in and around the sand dunes) and of course plenty of liquids, march should be around 65 degrees, could be 40 or 90 depending on mother nature, you will see lots of great desert riding coming and going to dumont, from vegas your looking at about a 2-3 hour drive depending on the traffic heading south on interstate 15....... http://www.ca.blm.gov/barstow/dumont.html Amargosa might be closed, call ahead to find out........ oh and if your bike likes 93 octane or better bring that too, cali is 91 and loaded with MTBE, some bullshit the tree huggers insist we ruin our fuel with.... How is the riding around the dunes? Is it worth it? Since I'm shipping my shee out, I wasnt planning on shipping my spare wheels/tires. I would if its worth it. As of now it looks like there will be at least 20 in our group coming from all over the west coast. Your more than welcome to join in.... Hows the elevation there compared to Glamis? Jetting close to the same? Anyone up for a BHQ ride at Dumont????
banshee370
I'll be bringing my fuel w/ us from Vegas. A friend of mine lives in Henderson so we will be coming out w/ him. He has a 42' 5th wheel toy house he will be towing, and I will be pulling his small trailer w/ the motorhome. I can only run race fuel or AV gas. I kinda miss the days of pump gas! I think we should kill all tree huggers
banshee370
hehe I've worn out that google link I did re-read that post and checked that site once before. Depending on the size container I use to ship my shee will depend on extra room. I also have to ship all my gear and some for the wife since she is coming out too. (our 10 year anniversary) hehe. Thanks for the offer for tires... If you can make it.... I'll even let ya ride my old heap Thanks for the info.
