Michaels 04 Banshee
Hi everyone, I'm new to the 2 strokes and need some help! I have a serious smoke issue on the right side of my banshee. I've done a compression test and both cylinders are 100 psi. On the money! It also starts first kick every time. My question is, if the compression is good does that mean that I can rule out the head gasket?
Surfrjag
Try a leakdown test! It still could be a head gasket but sounds like it might be the crank seal. has the oil level been dropping in the crank case?
Michaels 04 Banshee
Since it started smoking i havent rode it enough to see the level drop. I have been checking it after every start though. It stays the same. Also the coolant stays the same level.
possum
most common is clutch side crank seal. or leaking cases.

Michaels 04 Banshee
I just got my leak down tester built. I will be testing this weekend. Do yall have any recommendations on a gasket and seal kit that is reasonably priced?
Michaels 04 Banshee
By the way the motor is stock.
Michaels 04 Banshee
Ok my leak down test is complete! I would add that my tester worked damn fine. There is an issue though. I found that my case is leaking out of the vent tube at the back of the case. 1 bubble per sec @ 6 psi. Psi leaks to 3.5 in 6 min. Seen this before? trickedcarbine
That would mean the crank case is not sealed up. Did you do the leak down with the clutch cover off? I'd imagine it's coming from the pto side crank seal and pressurizing the trans case. If it's not the seal it's the sealant used to sandwich the cases. hoppedupandcutdown
^^^ Or no sealant on the key on the crank
Michaels 04 Banshee
I did it with the cover off of the clutch and could hear it pissing. The motor is out now I am ready for seal and gasket replacement. Any ideas on a a good kit?
EaCastillo00
mine had that issue, its probably the crank seal, check if your oil level is going down
