87sheerips
This is the first time I have ever ran UNI's... Just looking at them makes me gasp for air. I wonder how well they flow? Sorry, a bit off topic but I am actually very curious. They do their friggen job tho, I will tell u that. Shed water and trap dust like nothing I have eer seen. Made back to back pulls with k&n then Uni... They made identical hp&tq. I did not have the second stage on tho.

WINDYCITYJOHN400
I clearly remember waaay back when we had 4mm motors.. We were out riding in a dusty ass field one day. My brother's bike wouldn't run for shit. We fucked with that thing forever. After dicking with everything from top to bottom, we pulled the outerwears off. They were dusty as shit. Bike fired right up and ran perfect. They can and will plug up. You guys can run them. Just like you can run small filters. It doesn't matter to me. Here is a tip..... they are supposed to plug up! Without them....those oiled up filters will be CAKED with dust/clay. Then you have to do a whole filter re-charge in the middle of the trail/woods/race/ride. With Outerwear's you can just brush them off every once and a while. I just take a light brush to them at every fuel stop. They are FOR dust and sand and to shed water. Even mud sticks like concrete to a pleated filter. But brushes off an Outerwear. Maybe you should hire a few more builders and have them conference call and tell you MORE Stuff. FFS You and your brother climb all over a bike and can't figure out the filters just dirty? How many miles do you push a bike that dies before you take a peek under the gas cap? locogato11283
I wasn't aware you could only ride for ten minutes with brand new outerwears before they needed to be cleaned. It doesn't matter anyway. I don't play ride my Banshee anymore. That's what the beater YFZ is for. And it doesn't have an outerwear.
bluebanshee98
Here'so my thought on the outerwears. Yes they help protect the filter. It's not really that hard to take them off after a day of riding and rinse them under soap and water and let dry, reinstall. IMO if your hillclimbing you don't need the outerwears. Your not following behind someone with constant dirt sand Ect in the air infront of you. Also if your leading the pack your filters won't get as dirty if you were following someone. My filters have stayed pretty clean for a couple rides when i ride solo depending on conditions. I personally never let them get to the point where it made the bike run like crap from such a dirty filter Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
bluebanshee98
Also while you don't really need a outerwear I would recommend it to people who are using pods and trail riding with there banshees. Little extra insurance with the filter being exposed as much as it is. Tyler does your Yfz have a airbox on it or does it have a pod like your banshee does? When I first had my banshee with just bolt ons and a airbox I ran a k&n without a outerwear
sheerider11
I made the mistake of oiling my outerwears once. And yes me and my dad had a discussion about the effectiveness of 6-8" filters. And it seems the thinking is right

My YFZ has had an open air filter since about the third week I owned it. I bought it brand new in February 2006. Since then, I put a piston in it in March 2009 and had the valves checked. That's it. I have tons of videos of me running that bike in dusty ass trails, fields and hillclimbs.. NO NEED for an outerwear if the air filter is good. I made the mistake of oiling my outerwears once. I don't call him for stupid shit like this. I've got my setup down to a science. It's proven on the dyno and proven in real world testing. The problem here is that people like windy, who have basically ZERO credentials try to discredit those (me) who have LOTS of experience. Do you think that the outerwear would possibly help keep the filter from getting dirty as quick if it didnt have one? I would think it would filter it to some degree Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Have you seen the riding I've put that thing through? Fuck an outerwear.
