south street speed shop
I got a new set of 64.5 mm Wiseco pistons for a 4 mil long rod, they have the same pin offset as a blaster but have the windows on the intake side raised so the intake is not shut off at BDC and a 13 degree dome has anyone tried these yet? shanYE west
wouldn't that be a 795 piston?
south street speed shop
No, this has a 6mm pin offset , the 795 has a 5mm offset plus the windows are in a different spot 795 wont work with a 4mm long rod, only on a stock stroke with longer rods
shanYE west
so the head needs to be re chambered. Whats the piston number? 795 pistons will work. Just need to re chamber the head and match port timings.
BANSHEE HP
513, 795, and these new pistons are all 13°, just different pin heights and intake window shape/location. Basically the new stroker pistons have a blaster pin height so moved up 6mm from stock but are in stock through .080" bores. Where blaster pistons don't start until .080 over. BUILDER
795 wont work with a 4mm long rod, only on a stock stroke with longer rods HMMMM So you are saying all the 4mill long rod motors out there should pull the 795 pistons out because they are wrong? Shit I have a lot of motors to take back apart!
Young Guns Racing
Part number on these "new" pistons?
BANSHEE HP
11882MO6400 to 6600
south street speed shop
795 is for long rod only, to put it in a 4mm stroker, so you still need to deal with the 2mm - either spacer plate or cut out the head 2mm These new pistons make it so that you can run a 60 thousandths base and stock head (since the piston dome is 13 degrees) alot less machining involved to run a 4mm long rod stroker crank wiseco part number is 11882M06450 I bought it as a drop it kit with the .060 base gasket so I didnt need to modify my stock head or raise my transfers another mm
south street speed shop
HMMMM So you are saying all the 4mill long rod motors out there should pull the 795 pistons out because they are wrong? Shit I have a lot of motors to take back apart! what did you do with the 795 intake windows? Did you leave them stock? These new pistons have the intake windows raised 10mm, at BDC, the port windows are wide open Edited June 24, 2014 by south street speed shop
shanYE west
sounds like a backyard way to go about it only to gain 2-3 hp. You'd probably gain more HP just by ditching the stock head and going with a good dome profile. The intake windows on the piston dont affect much. You'd probably not even see the difference on a dyno.
Starwriter
So, this "new" piston is just reinventing a busted crutch. The port timings end up exactly the same as running a spacer plate. You end up with 4mm of mostly wasted piston travel below the transfer ports.
south street speed shop
I think I'll be closer to the 7 range, the port timing is totally different thats why I bought them, the 795 is the wrong way to go on a 4mil long rod, unless you do extensive head work, then you still have the intake windows do deal with on the 795. shanYE west
you wont see 7hp gain. your still using a shit dome profile (stock head) and port timings are NOT correct. put a wheel on and measure your timings... you'll see its not optimal
south street speed shop
why?
