turbowrenchhead
Mine was stolen in 2002 two months after I moved to Milwaukee. I was depressed for months and quit auto mechanics for 4 years.
WINDYCITYJOHN400
John! I am listening. I'm having a builder do it this time. I couldn't afford it last year to have it done professionally. As for the grand national remarks. I really don't appreciate that. Your listening.....but you still have that "I got this" swagger. It's great to be confident......but you need to do ALOT more reading. Then you will understand what people are trying to say.
turbowrenchhead
I don't have that "I got this" swagger. In the past I was trying to save money by doing it myself. Building the rest of the bike the way I wanted it was not cheap. I've done nothing but read and ask tons of questions. I did the best I could with the jugs I got this spring before our big bay trip. Yes I didn't realize to cc the compression chamber. I did it right away when you suggested it. Yes I didn't know that 420 jets was a sign that something was wrong. At that point it was too late. I had to make due with what I had. But again I've never claimed to know it all. I've always stated that I was here to learn. I have 2k saved up for a decent build. That was not an easy task in its self. So give me some credit for being honest, polite and sticking it out! sprinklerman
Sounds like you have a solid start. Are you having stock jugs done ? Sent from a van down by the river
turbowrenchhead
I'm acquiring a set of stock bore, stock port virgin cylinders and having them ported along with a +4 long rod set up. I purchased a matching, no damage 2000 model year case. Mine has chain whack and a bad crack in the bottom that I had welded. I case ported the outside transfers to much. I went down to 4mm wide surface. I had a hard time getting the base gasket to seal. I had to double side yamabond the gasket to get it to seal. That's no good for long term reliability. I'm sending my bottom end in to the builder for them to disassemble and transfer and check parts going into the new cases. Getting the shift shaft mod done, starter idler bushing will get checked and everything else that may have a problem. Talking with Jeff at FAST he said that the lower case studs have an issue with air leaks from time to time. I'll make sure that mod gets done as well. Jay threw a lot of info at me and I like what he had the say the best out of everyone I talked to today. He suggested custom pistons as a possibility. He has a set coming that he's going to do some testing on the dyno to see how they work. I'm hoping to get this done before mid June for the Silver Lake ride. I'm not sure I can pull it off or not. I also have to fix my blaster for my GF. The case got whacked with the chain. So mo money, mo money, mo money. Jay has those custom pistons coming in soon and they should offer improvements without having to do any machine work on the windows. (I hope you meant mid JULY on your build. Mid June is here) LOL He can show you dyno runs from stuff he's done like your thinking of doing. Also give you a look at runs other well known builders motors made on the dyno as a comparison. So many different options on building HP, I'm sure you can find a build to fit your budget and ride style. If he's doing it all for you, you can get the full tranny mods done and that will shift like butter. I'll be there for the dyno runs on it when your done if you give me the heads up. Are you brining the whole nerd herd to the dunes? (Kids under 16 need an ATV SAFTEY INSTITUTE CERTIFICATION) They also can't ride if they are under 12 years old. turbowrenchhead
I'm not sure if I can get everything done in time. I might hold off for the next one. Is there one in August?

turbowrenchhead
What's the campground like?
WINDYCITYJOHN400
Let's put it this way.....it's nice enough than over 1/2 the spaces are rented ALL season with seasonal campers. It's so nice and growing so fast that in 2-3 years there will only be seasonals and we'll have to switch to a new spot.

n2otoofast4u
Parts through builders are not much more than ebay. In fact, often a builders price is better. But people are too fucking dumb and un-social and lazy to pick up the fucking phone and call.
