Thack82
Thanks for the input Tim. At this point it doesn't matter what you or anybody says, these guys have made up their minds. The added basket weight gives you all the same benefits that added flywheel weight does without hurting the RPM Rev or robbing horsepower. I would think the added torque, ridability, performance, wear resistance would be well worth $160. For a woods Banshee the steel basket is one of the best upgrades for the money. TIM LUTZ
YFZ's don't come with nuclear bomb proof clutch baskets though. No but believe it or not the hot ticket for the YFZ is the $900 REKLUSE z-START PRO AUTO-CLUTCH

Are you guys planning on running me over as soon as I step out of the truck?
shanYE west
this is where you are mistaken.. Adding rotational weight will take away from HP. Put it on a dyno and you'll see it. It will slow down acceleration while increasing tractability. Its common physics. It will take additional HP to accelerate the additional rotating weight at the same rate. Opposite is true to removing rotating weight. Is there benefits?? sure.. but it comes at a expense. Please dont confuse "added torque" with increased crank inertia.
locogato11283
The additional weight of the basket also does not increase traction.. That's merely the loss of HP making the tires harder to break loose.

If there "is" a horsepower loss it's very minimal because the additional weight rides on the transmission not the crank itself like the flywheel. Tim and I both stated that we didn't feel any power loss or RPM restriction with the steel basket.

Ether helical or straight The basket can not move without the crank moving. It is additional weight that the engine MUST move.

We all know your opinion on this topic, you made it clear in your first post.
shanYE west
Also, keep in mind Hinson is making these for dirt bikes where the HP/weight ratio is stupid high with half as much rotating mass!
Thack82
You would think someone with a degree in applied sciences would know this. The more mass you add, the more force it takes to accelerate that object. The most basic formula shows this, F=ma. You should focus on formulas you need to do get your EFI System going.
