tfaith08
I'm in a position to buy some works dual rates with reservoirs and a set of triples without for roughly the same price. Both are set up for my weight. I ride some very tight, 1st gear trails and some very fast and bumpy trails. Suggestions? Vicstuff
Triples have resi's as well? If so get the triples
tfaith08
Triples don't, duals do.
WINDYCITYJOHN400
Get the duals with the resi as long as both shicks are for your weight, the duals will perform better with a remote resi than triples without.
camatv
i'd lean towards the triples. i dont think your going to be working oil so much your going to need a resy. the trip spring will give you a nice plush inital hit and in the tight trails your probably going to like that more.. just my opinion. trickedcarbine
Kinda with cam on this one. How heavy are you? And how hard do you ride? You could probably get Quality oil for the triples and be ok.
WINDYCITYJOHN400
^^^ Agree. I've mounted my GoPro to a pole out the front of my machine and taken video of my front suspension in action. (WORKS DUALS) I found the the small spring takes up the majority of the travel. The only way a third spring will be effective is in a long travel application. shanYE west
I'm going to agree with cam also. I'd go for the trip rates.
WINDYCITYJOHN400
No he's trolling. He rides air struts in sand. I on the other hand have actually OWNED both and can comment from experience. I have a bike with ELKAS as well as a WORKS dual rate bike. If the triple rates worked better.....I'd still have them.
shanYE west
I've rode dual rates with and without resi's and triple rates without resi's. I havn't tried anything but works on my banshee then I bought my 450 new in 03' which has TCS now.. Got a set of dual rate works sitting here now.. I have to rebuild them though... Bladders are junk. Air struts FTW!! http://i78.photobucket.com/albums/j102/fouledout/IMAG0456_zps0476a3bc.jpg Edit: forgot back in the day I tried some progressive suspension.. Got a banshee in on trade when I worked at the dealer... so i took them for a weekend.. They sucked.
tfaith08
Kinda with cam on this one. How heavy are you? And how hard do you ride? You could probably get Quality oil for the triples and be ok. I'm right at 200lbs and I ride hard enough to max my front suspension out on a very regular basis. We just found a place to ride that has about 800 acres of sand, but we had to ride through a bit of mud to get there. After about 10 minutes, the dried mud was completely gone from the bottom front of the frame. It looked like it'd been wiped off from bottoming it out in the sand. It also stays above 90 degrees down here, so that has me leaning towards the resis.
shanYE west
I'm not a shock expert by any means.. But I've had a few shocks where the resi actually didn't have any oil in it. It was just a gas chamber. My axis rear is the same way. I've only rode air struts though.. Air struts FTW!!
