badboyzracing187
Hi. I'm new to this site. I need some help. Just bought 97 banshee. It came with a Vitos 404cc kit, pro design cool head (unknown domes) hot rod stock size crank. It needs top end redone, but the guy gave me a set of stock cylinder jugs .20 over with Trinity MX pro port job. Since these jugs are ready to put pistons in them, don't need bore, I'm thinking of installing these instead of boring out the big bore jugs. My question is, will the cool head fit the stock ported jugs or not? It was installed with the big bore like i mebtioned. Thanks in advance. Also what do u all recommend. Keep the big bore or put on the ported stock ones?
sstaton1983
The domes are most likely big bore ...so no prolly not....measure the big bores, 68mm is the most common with blaster pistons. A bore is cheaper then new domes..... What cc are the domes? Edited May 15, 2014 by sstaton1983
badboyzracing187
I don't know what size domes. Does it say somewhere in the head or in the actual domes?
sstaton1983
Depends on brand, but most will be stamped on the side of the dome. 17cc to 22 or so.
badboyzracing187
Thanks for the help. I'll check as soon as I get home. Which do u think are better to run. Big bore or ported ones? Just ride around with friends and drag every once in a while
SAVAGE420
If it was me, I would throw the ported ones on, get the proper domes for cheap. Bolt it all up and forgetaboutit. What's the rest of your setup? Pipes, timing, carbs ect...
WINDYCITYJOHN400
Value of Trinity MX pro porting on a set of stock cylinders = Willing to GIVE them away.
badboyzracing187
The guy before me had the carbs set up with 240 main jets. I'm at 5800ft elevation. Fmf fattys. I think he also said +2 advance timing
toytech
the head will work. you'll need domes for stock bore though. I like to deal with Jeff at FAST Racing
badboyzracing187
Thanks to everyone for the help. As for the domes, do u think 19cc domes will be OK without having to run race gas. I'm around 3800 above (sorry wrong elevation in earlier post). According to the compression chart, 19cc @3000 ft will give about 158 psi and @ 4000 ft 152 psi. That means I should be somewhere in between this range and be safe with pump gas correct?
Bennett131
that's cutting it pretty close id go with 20cc if your certain you don't want to run race fuel, I mix mine 50/50 with race fuel my comp is 154.
badboyzracing187
Thank for the info ZILLAFREAK. They are complete cylinders. What are your thoughts on the ported vs the 404 Vitos
badboyzracing187
The current domes for the big bore are 18cc.
Starwriter
If it were me, I would box up all the cylinders, pistons, and domes that you have and ship them to Redline. Let Cam look them over and figure out what's gonna work the best.
