clrkaw26
I took it apart to do the trans mod and was going to do a little more but after really reading I'm just going to wait to build my stroker the right way and just ride this bike until it gets done. That's why it was taken apart, was also suppose to get new top end but they sent wrong pistons so waiting for the right ones.
m671054
You kept mentioning compression was low on right side. Was this figured out from a gauge reading or from less exh pressure from the tail pipe? The choke tube will cause the second symptom.ride this setup and learn about banshees for at least 1 season before doing anything else. That way you can make informed desicions. clrkaw26
I came to that conclusion from exhaust pressure, that's exactly what I'm going to do.
clrkaw26
Just got back from mothersday and finally got to start it and test it, that stupid little tube fixed all my probkemsvexcept being stupid enough to forget puting it back on. Exhaust pressure is good again and its running perfect, thanks!!!! But I do want to ask a easy question for some of you, when I cracked my block open it looked like the crank was aftermarket but the rods were stock, I measured the travel but had to do it with a meausuring tape and calculate inches into mm, my factory cylinders also look decked, so the question is will a completely stock crank, rods and factory wrist pin location piston raise higher than the top of the cylinder at tdc, the dome part of the piston will come up higher than the cylinder, I do not recall my bikes doing that but I also run vortex flat tops in them and this banshee has pro x 31k 1.2020.100 65mm pistons.thanks in advance. possum
When you felt lower pressure coming out, it felt low cause it wasnt firing. It will never shoot out hard when not firing even with tons of compression. So this way is almost impossible to tell compression. you need a compression tester and not harbor freight. clrkaw26
Yeah, I usually just rent one from autozone but didn't this time since I have a new topend on the way, I did have these cylinders honed and they are in great shape but I will check it over really good and do a leak down check and compression check once I replace it. I'm really surprised on how much power it gained just by replacing the airbox with pods and advancing the timing +4. next on the list is having someone reputable port my cylinders, cool head and v force reeds. If anyone goes to 4's I will buy your 3's.
m671054
If your staying with stock cylinders look for some on the stock bore before paying for porting. You want as many bores left as possible after you pay for porting. Just get a stock head cut and rechambered.
clrkaw26
I bought this thing used so its making ot tough, if I bought it bone stock I would be better off, I'm not 100% if the crank is stock or if the head has already been milled, that's why I bought just a motor so I would know more about what I have but I don't trust the guy who ported those cylinders so put stocks back on, I guess I need to do a squish test. When I redo my topend so I will be able to see if I can deck the head with clearance, only thing I do know for certain is the cylinders on the bike are not ported, they are bored .040 over and that's about all I'm certain on, I do want to get it ported and decked but really want to know more about what is exactly in it before throwing away more money on the wrong porting or decking a head that will not work because my motor could possibly be stroked. The piston comes up above the cylinder as it is.
m671054
Buy some large harbor freight calipers so you can measure cylinders, check stroke etc. Between measurements and pictures a few on here can tell you exactly what you've got. If you have'nt pissed em all off already
clrkaw26
Yeah, I'm sure a few people took their ball and went home, but I'm ok with it, all those people are still posting to my old thread and some really cool people that know their stuff have been talking banshee with me on this one. Im sure some how some way some one will figure out how to twist that but don't mean anything negative towards anyone.
03DMshee
Yeah, I usually just rent one from autozone Most "mechanics" don't have to borrow tools from local parts stores....
clrkaw26
I drive a car to work, and can't fit a rolling tool box in it, half The tools in the box belong to my work and we do not check compression the same, dare you to try, recessed heads, I also don't work on carbs anymore and 99% of the time it is diagnosed by the car system or by our diagnostics, I'm basically a good wrench turner and half the time there is a special tool for that, we replace snd rarely rebuild
n2otoofast4u
This all comes back to the "parts changer" thread that someone of similar stupidity as yourself started a few months ago. It's a good read if you have time. It went in the very same direction that this thread is headed. clrkaw26
Its not me pushing the thread that direction, I'm asking honest questions. I'm not the one jabbing.
sstaton1983
He's talking about your low experience level showing up in your posts, while at the same time your telling everyone you are a mechanic.....by low experience I mean your mechanical inabilities. Every tech starts somewhere and i'm not trying to bash on you....
