oldskool
Not sure about your state or specifics, but call your DMV. I think they have to run a check on your vin. If its clear, the process of getting a title should begin. If your vin has been reported stolen, say goodbye to your bike
NYUK
pa there is a form you fill out and take to harrisburg, go to an auto tag place that does atv registration, they can help you. or buy a frame with a title.
Buffalo-Banshee
In new York you can bring a printed visible picture of the Vin to the dmv and proof of ownership. This worked on my grizzly but if the frame was reported stolen when they run the Vin your sol

03DMshee
Call DCNR...run the VIN with them...if there is no lean or is not stolen they will check the title origin. ..if it was never titled PA then it will be open . If it was titled in PA before they will send a certfied letter to last known name and address on title...if they do not get a response in 14 days they clear the title and you can have one put right in your name. ...ive done it before. ..my wifes bike was a 1995 and was titled then but never again till 2010 when we bought it...14 days later we had a title in our name... Bansheeteddy
This may save me $400 for a title frame off eBay.
03DMshee
And also make sure whoever you talk to you tell them you are "thinking" of buying this machine. ..dont wanna totally give it away that you are in possession of the stolen property if it is hot... trickedcarbine
Better idea, strip the bike before taking it to the local PD for a quick check. That way if it is stolen, they are just taking the frame. Not your whole bike. Then if shit hits the fan, you can just buy a frame and title instead of another entire bike. Surfrjag
I thought there was a website..
TroyBrock
There are a few websites, just google it. I did it with both my bike and spare frame. Both came back clean, then had DMV check and to no surprise both came back clean.
