peterlocal22
I have a -2 swingarm and AC Pro Peg Nerf Bars with Heel guards. I have to run a very small rear tire to help avoid the rear tire rubbing against the heel guards. I have a hair scramble coming up in about a week. I want to run 23 inch tires in front and 22 inch tires in the rear. There is no way I can run a 22 inch tire in the rear with AC Pro peg nerf bars with heel guards. I'm thinking of cutting the heel guard protection off. Wondering if anyone runs there Banshee with no heel guard protection and how they like it? I know Ive seen pics of guys with nerf bars and no heel guard protection. Is it a bad idea or does it work? Please don't reply unless you really know because I will have zero time to test it. I will be cutting the bars the day before the race. If anyone has pics please send to petervolpejr@Hotmail.com thanks in advance, Peter

bluebanshee98
I would not cut those nerfs that's just stupid. Buy a set for cheap that doesn't have heel guards
LaegerEliminator
Do you HAVE to run 22's? Will 20's clear without chopping off your guards? I realize you would lose a little ground clearance. I would want to have the protection in place versus the taller tire. trickedcarbine
I have nerfs with out the Heel guard and won't ever run them again! Maybe try getting your heel guard to bend forward a touch to clear them big tires? 22" is a lot of tire to put behind any nerfs with a -2 swinger. Remember if you run the bigger tire it's now right there on your heel, mucho dangeroso with no heel guard in real racing. Maybe buy a junker set that's shorter and modify them or have JD work them over.... Then sell me your pro pegs! peterlocal22
Yes, another option would be to buy a pair of nerf bars with pegs and no heel guards. That's not the issue. Im trying to figure out from anyone who is running a banshee with no heel guards? I know a lot of guys racing with just pegs, so wouldn't this be the same thing? Anyone out there who is running just pegs, have you had any problems? Who knows maybe its better, lol. Thanks
sheerider11
I have fronts only. No heals. I ride a lot of whooped out trails so I'm always leaning way back and have my toes pointed up pretty high. I wouldn't run heel guard

sheerider11
I'm a weekend warrior. Just playing around in jersey sand pits. Yes arm pump happens a lot. I have a stock length swinger. I have roll pegs so the grip is awesome
rjdgriff
What you do is get yourself some of jds aftermarket pegs that are set farther forward than the stock pegs and then buy a set of his heel guards that will bolt onto them. I'm sure he can get you a setup that will work great
sheerider11
sheerider... if you would change your ride style a bit and not have to lean back as much you would probably see a huge improvement in your riding. unless the leaning back constant is keeping the front end up lol... Once i started racing I changed my riding style entirely.. you really learn fast what works and what doesn't.. bad riding form will kill ya lol For the -2 swinger think of it this way.. the heel part of the nerfs is what 3" ish long and 22" tires do not clear them... think of how close that tire is.. not to bad if you keep the same stance.. but no room for error if you happen to move your foot back or anything. yea roll pegs are awesome... Ive actually used a grinder as well as my buds on the pegs to keep them sharp as hell. but once the middle gets build up its game over... its 20x worse in winter as the pegs will actually fully ice up (even my rear brake pedal) will fully freeze over) I usually have to chip ice away ever so often. but yea ice on pegs suck assssss in a race espcially XC style A LOT of mud build up happens fast (depending on track conditions) you will still get bite but will take less for your feet to slide off riding hard in a race Yeah I know. It will once I get a good rear shock. Ad yes I keep the front end up all the time. We do have some killer whoops where we ride. Very rarely do I get to sit in a forward "attack" position. Believe me, by the time I get to sit I'm usually coasting to recover from the beating I just took in the last straight away.

It's either whoops, tree roots the size of telephone poles, or 4ft deep puddles. But I do like the whoops. I will ride whooped out trails all day as fast as I can.
