2004LEBanshee
Buddy on here has a cheetah he bought. He says its a 16 crank with a 72 bore? Is that correct? Or could it be 73.5 610? Checked the cp industries site but it was older the the old redline site. Says the guy who sold it said it was a 570 something.

BuckeyeShee21
Its my motor... and I bought it from a member on here. finally got it in my bike and running today. Compression and leak down tested great so why would I take the head off? If you cant help with the question than dont reply. Owner said it was 72mm bore 16 mil. That would make it 570cc....is that possible?
2004LEBanshee
Thanks. Buckeye did trust the previous. I threw in doubt when i thought there was only a 73.5. There isnt a chart anywhere so i posted here to ask. So its possible its a 68 as well.
BuckeyeShee21
No I believe him... great seller... just never heard of that combination. ... I thought all 68's were cubs?
n2otoofast4u
Mine was 74.5 bore. CP would cast nearly any combination you want as long as the bore/stroke were compatible with the cyld. Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk
WINDYCITYJOHN400
68 72 72.5 73 73.5 74 74.5 etc.
camatv
you can get any stroke, bore combo. MOST times the intended bore is cast in the intake at ther reed cage sometimes the stroke is in there alos. you can usually measure the height of the cylinder to determin stroke also. if your super cool you can usually guess stroke by the space under the head. if its thick its a lot of stroke. if its thin not so much. so you oh its a 421 cub dicks with 10's yea i see ya. is the 16in stock cases? if it is there should be an ass ton of case work to get the crank to fit. to double check the stroke you can measure that through the plug hole. some of the best running motors i have personally seen were 14 cheeta, and 16 cheeta. one 73 bore adn the other was a 75mm bore. i FEEL the lighter pistons let the motor rev much much easier. cubs are a different casting. BuckeyeShee21
Thank you for the info. Yes, it is stock cases. Appears a ton of work was done to them. It is a Nate McCoy motor. Im 90% sure its 72 and 16. I will use the info you gave me to check.

Starwriter
Measure the stroke with calipers. Read the number on top of the piston with a borescope. Don't have a borescope? Make friends with a local auto tech that has one. It's amazing what you can see inside a motor with one. It's even worth taking one with you when you're going to look at a bike you're thinking about buying.
trickedcarbine
Bore scopes or even the construction cams at Home Depot or lowes will get ya in there. The Milwaukee one goes in nice.
