So im i the only one to spray reeds down with brake clean?

No, you're not the only one.

I clean EVERYTHING with brake cleaner. (except clear clutch cover lenses…..that doesn't work out too well.)  :(

Well some members get all bent outta shape when I post anything approaching a paragraph.

As you can see, a good answer requires more effort than a tweet.

I didn't realize just what you were trying to DO till you posted about metal in the reeds.

That requires more effort than sucking. LOL

Tricked, do u feel it would actually break it down that quickly? Ive never had any issue's with it, but then again im not dunking it into a vat either. Been using brake cleaner for a good 20years and never witnessed any dissolving issues. Has me curious now

I figured they could handle break clean since they have fuel flowing over them the whole time the engine is running. Id be more hesitant with carb clean before I would with break clean.

Brake clean is much different. (That's why we can clean carbs with it when topping off your tank with more gas won't.) LOL

But there are two styles of brake cleaner. One style is more aggressive than the other.

I was using the less aggressive style with no issues. Then I switched to the more aggressive stuff and frosted a cover. So, if THAT style can frost a clear clutch cover......I imagine it can mess with reeds. So........maybe he's got a point. Depending on the style cleaner you use.

Makes sense. Side note: not to stray off topic but if u do manage to cloud a lens it can be reversed very easily with mothers chrome polish and a powerball very easily.
