trickedcarbine
I'm doing a motor for a buddy and the cylinders are out for porting and I'm trying to get everything else ready to go. The last problem I'm having is with the tranny. The thing has been in a box for many years and has surface rust and crud all over it. It is a tranny that's been cut by Brad at Tyson Racing, so I'd like use it if it can be salvaged. Any one know where I can get this thing tumbled at a reasonable price? Bennett131
I doubt though that the ultra sonic will remove the rust...

Larry's Shee
I've always wanted to try this. http://antique-engines.com/electrol.asp That process works good, bit slow though. Don't know what it would do to the polished gear surfaces. What about soda, glass, or walnut shell blasting?
camatv
glass bead can hurt the case hardening, walnut or shell works great, ultrasonic with rust solution is the better choice. OR Evaporust. you would need to baby sit it i use this stuff all the time its amazing. i buy a lot of vintage tooling and some scrap steel from time to time. works good on rusty gas tank too. you can get it at any decent auto parts store for around 20 bucks. get a plastic container from the local wally world, and your in business. wayne_smith97
I use citric acid and water. It generally has to soak overnight but works wonders.

hoppedupandcutdown
Evaporust will do a great job, soda blasting won't cut rust.
