ghott
I'm wondering if it's "safe" to use some 18.5x4" JJ&A front smoothies on pavement? Not looking to use them for any long term pavement riding or racing...I'm just wanting to make a couple of test passes on the pavement in my subdivision if they'll withstand it. fappy'97
I've made probably close to a dozen passes (roughly 1/8th mile on a street) on 18x3's from STU.. No issues.
Wheelman Chassis
it all depends on how balanced they are and how fast ya go... seems in the past we could go about 85-90 befor they shake your head off. lol I would run street tires. NYUK
a buffed front is basically a thick tube, speed rated scooter tires at any motorcycle shop are cheap.
ghott
Thanks guys...I am mostly just wanting to make a couple 0-60mph straight line passes on the pavement in my subdivision to test the override tranny out...no turns or super high speeds. My main concern was how fast the pavement would "eat" the tires - if that makes sense. Edited April 7, 2014 by ghott
RadarRacing
You will be fine ghott. It of course isnt recommended but it wont hurt em unless you cut em on glass or something sharp. If they are crazy thin you may not want to. It seems like none of the buffed tires are buffed half as thin as they used to be.
n2otoofast4u
Id make double damn sure that your shit is aligned and the toe is set correct. Shit will scrub off FAST at those speeds on pavement.
possum
they will smooth the surface over time. make them look like a molded tire where they contact the road.
