My friends tell me to cut my swingarm, cuz i only weigh 130-no traction. My friend has a 02 raptor, he wants it longer. i want my shee shorter. My idea was, can i swap swingarms. I know u can swap axles. My dad is a machinest, so if it reguires a little work, no problem. Just wonderin. Thanks for ur time people. Im gunna get a noss head, how do i get the discount. Also, like everybody else i wanna go faster, but i wanna do it mx style. Do ya'll have any spefic ideas for that? I wanna stay reliable, my brother went all out on his, now he has to rebuild it often. Plus im a college student, so i cant afford much. Thanks ya'll for ur time. this place is the best. You're better off keeping your swingarm and cutting it down than you are swapping for a raptors. Banshee swinarms don't strip out on a rough landing. SCOTT PRESSLEY Posted November 13, 2003 Report Share Posted November 13, 2003 Just had a freind cut my swing arm it' -2 now and sweet.Got directions from here.Basicly you remove the carrier mounts from swing arm and shorten them and reweld back to arm.Sounds easy but it takes 10 to 12 hours to do,my freind told me he would have to think about doning another one.He done a great job.Make sure to brace the mounts.This is a condenced version but there was a detailed one here some where. wheeleymaster99 Posted November 13, 2003 Report Share Posted November 13, 2003 if your looking for more traction you should make sure you have a good pair of tires first and i wouldent recomend getting a smaller swing arm if you ever plan to do any dune rideing in the sand banshees get enough tracting its hard to keep the frontend on the ground with stock swing arm. I do & don't have any problems,..shee still handles & hooks up better, is much easier to control & even helped me get the holeshot when dragg'n. It doesn't make your front end feel light & it's not constantly in the air. If you're at all worried about a -2 arm at the dunes w/paddles, don't be---just try it,...you'll be surprized. I have been running a stock swingarm for about 2 years now, and I rode a shee with -2 for 5 minutes and liked it much better. It does give more traction, but your not flippin over backwards all the time, it actually feels much better, because banshees feel nose heavy anyways. I decided to shorten my swingarm 2 inches, but I went the next step and put a round carrier conversion in like boonman did. I am in a welding shop at a technical high school, so I have all the tools right there. I just welded the carrier to the swingarm today, so I'll post pics a little later. The round carrier is abigger job, but I hate the stock chiain tensioner setup because it takes much longer than the round carrier, and my carrier mounts were crooked from a wierd landing off a jump anyways. You can get round carriers from Alloy Specialties for about $60, and I got a RAD carrier for $150, usually alot more but it had one little scratch in it. It's pretty easy to just shorten one two inches, especially if you make a good jig. mrmatt had pics on the new site if you havent seen them yet.
