TroyBrock
I'm not too lazy to take it apart, I actually really enjoy working on these types of things, but the trees around my house just aren't producing the money like they use to. If I blow it up it's on no one but me and if it's last then I'll have a 27 year crank that has lasted 27 years with no inference. And Yeah I know it could be bearings. I'm trying to price things out as we speak to see what I can do. I'm not totally against splitting the cases but I need to see what money will allow. Starwriter
1. It's still very possible that the knocking sound IS the crank 2. Fresh top end will put more pressure on the crank 3. 27 year old crank seals? Air leak and meltdown? 4. We've see PLENTY of new guys in your position that destroyed their new top end because they refused to do it right the 1st time

I already admitted that Could someone tell what I should replace if I split the cases, what seals, bearings, gaskets, what you think should be replaced? Starwriter
If everything is happy inside, you only need 5 seals, a clutch cover gasket, and a tube of 1211.

Starwriter
Split the cases. If the PTO side bearing is good or marginal, send the crank out. If the PTO side bearing is trashed and the rest of the bearings are loose or rough, the crank is junk. Replacing the 2 center bearings requires complete crank disassembly.
