Carb leaking around the gasket.

Recommended Posts

I put a new gasket on today when I changed the jets, but there seems to be fuel all over the bowl leaking slowly. I took tje carb off and could see where the line was not pressed into the gasket and tried tightening it down even more and stripped a screw. Needless to say its still leaking. I'm going to try and get the screw out tomorrow and maybe try the old gasket.

Any tips or tricks to help this problem?

Rub both mating surfaces with emery cloth to clean up slight flaws If any, or any old gasket left on.. Also coat both gasket sides with a thin layer of grease with you fingers. That will fix you up guaranteed.

No need to over tighten the bowl screws , 1 grunt is enough. If you fart it's too tight.

Check back.

Impact screwdriver or a good set of pliers from the side. If the heads are already too far gone, you can use a small grinder/dremel to cut a slot in the bolt head and use a flat head screwdriver to remove it when finished.

^^^^ That and you could even just use 0000 grit or even 000 sandpaper would be fine. Just lightly is all.
