sstaton1983
Got a clean 421 that just shrunk to a 358 cub. Right before my eyes. I had to split the case to do some trans mods and then I find the 513 65 mm pistons Hmmm... Well it's not a long rod... And it's only a 65 mm bore... I told the guy when I bought it that it's prolly a stock stroke, wish I was wrong.. Now whats the diff between a 358 and 421 cub? As far as power, from what I've seen around the forums is around 8 to 10 hp I know it won't have the torque.

sstaton1983
It's a cub cylinder, which is plated. If it could be bored I wouldn't because my plating is still ok except a small spot of aluminum transfer. I heard some type of acid wil take it off. sstaton1983
Yeah, sorry just a little annoyed. It had stroker 17 cc domes in it. With .060 squish. At least the crank was welded.
Starwriter
I heard some type of acid wil take it off. Muriatic acid eats aluminum. You get it a a swimming pool supply store. Use a Q tip to apply it. Be VERY, VERY careful. It's NASTY stuff. Do not breathe the fumes from it. It's about 10 times worse than taking a whiff of ammonia. sstaton1983
I ordered a lock up and billet basket, clutches and steals from matt at SCP. I'm waiting on the lock up and pistons. Got the trans cut and back together. I still need custom domes and I'm kicking around the idea of sending the cylinder out for porting. I weigh around 150 lbs so I'm thinking it should run pretty hard. The guys I ride with all have bigger set ups and I'm wanting to hang with them. Nightmare
You're doing all that and its not even ported? Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk

Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk when I ordered all of it, it was supposed to be a 421. I figured a 358 cub needs it anyway, besides it wouldn't shift under power. I would get one good pass out of every five.

Nightmare
Lol, in all seriousness it works great cleaning the tips on our irrigation wells. And I totally didn't snap it was a cub motor when I made the "no porting" comment. Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk

That's what I like to hear...I'm running 34mm carbs, V Force 3's and CPI in frames. Shooting for av gas, or race gas, haven't decided.
