87bansheepnw
i got my shee all back togethor, carbs cleaned, no airleaks, 116 compression in both cylinders, 280 mains, 27.5 pilots, clip on the 4th up i believe. in 1st gear sometimes it wont hit powerband it will just bog and in other gears it wont hit powerband at all it will just sputter and run like crap anywere over 1/2 throttle. when i shut it off sometimes it will just pour gas out the carb so i guess the float is sticking, could this cause the problem? tdod101
Yes, check float height - 21 mm

Larry's Shee
Might have to tweek the air screw and/or raise the needle. All part of tuning. ONLY change one thing at a time
87bansheepnw
i will try cleaning carbs first, then try the air screws, then needles, should i raise them?
uman1030
I know Toomey pipes want needle raised 1 clip leaner then stock in their recommendations. Others may be similar.

RadarRacing
Fix the float issue. It will basically dump fuel and flood , thus the bogging. You should notice it smoking quite a bit out of one pipe , that woukd be the side to check first. Also make sure you have the carbs on the correct side. You do not want to switch them.
87bansheepnw
ok fixed the float, there was sand in the float, runs ALOT better now, the power band comes on so hard it lifts the front easily, but if i just hit the throttle instantly it will hesitate before it hits the powerband. 87bansheepnw
well it just runs like crap now, i moved the clip to 4th notch from bottom with the washer thing on top of the clip. it smokes alot! like blue 2 stroke smoke but alot, when i rev it up or try to ride it, before it hits the power band it sounds like it hits a rev limiter and it sounds like its "4 stroking" like its very very rich,it takes off like a jet once powerband hits though, it ran better when i had the needle on the 3rd notch, also the plugs are covered in gas, could it be they are fouling instantly from being so rich? or? my airscrew is 2 turns out by the way and i have 280 main jets
uman1030
are you counting clip position like this? What are you running for Air filtration? Full airbox, no lid, pods?
87bansheepnw
first off my needles have 6 slots? and yes up to lean and down to richen i just tried my air screw at 3 turns out and nothing happened, also just tried my needle at the 2nd notch from bottom and nothing happened, when i rev it up all the way and hold it, its like it just hits a rev limiter it sounds like crap, when im riding it will hit the band and just take off but it also hits the same "rev limiter" before the powerband..... 87bansheepnw
also adding to my above post could this be a reeds problem?
87bansheepnw
ok i just now tried running the needle on the leanest setting, still nothing, still acts like its hitting a rev limiter, it smokes alot when its hitting the "rev limiter" i know theres not really a rev limiter but it sounds like it when i rev it full throttle, heres a video of revving to full throttle, also my tors is disconnected correctly View My Video
uman1030
parking brake switch on clutch perch completely disconnected electrically? green/yellow wire from cdi not grounding anywhere? that is the only rev limiter..
