Blue...I had just cleaned the filter & lightly oiled it. I started it in the garage w/the toomey 2:1 off & shee still did the same thing. That was one of the 1st things I tried. I know 100% that the jets aren't clogged & the carbs are clean...have had them off 4 times now to quadruple check. I dunno....it's gotta be electrical, I think.

Ive put new gas in it, new spark plugs, cleaned my carbs, and air filter, un plugged tors. And whouldnt the connectors be dry by now, i washed it two or three weeks ago. i am sure i didnt spray any water down the silencers im not that dumb. i replaced the stator like 3 months ago, because of a spittin and sputterin problem and that fixed it and it ran like a champ.

Papa Go though the whole wiring harness and Clean every connection (use wire brush and scratch it up a little in the female side too) and grease them with die electric grease.

I washed my motor in the 300zx turbo and lost the crank position sensor do to a lose connection in that sensor plug to harness from water, took 3 day to find it.

I'm pretty much having the same problem as papa_smut still, but can't figure it out....she backfires & spits at only, and only WOT.? I've tried everything but coil & cdi...and stator, but mine too is farily new & there's no water or anything in or around the flywheel cover. The pickup coil looks fine & I've tried adjusting it in & out w/no avail. I've got a post somewhere about 'cracked reeds' that has all the crap I've tried...and it's not cracked reeds I know that now. I know it's gotta be electrical...just gotta get some time to mess with it & start swapp'n parts with my '99. <_<

I have always had this same problem after washing mine too....the cdi would get wet and short inside. It would be fine once dry but now it is fried all the time now. I have a spark but it is weak. The bike fires up and idles ok but won't rev out. I brought in the spark plug gap and it helped. Also the key does not shut the bike off anymore. You might try the key...if it doesn't shut the bike off I can almost guarantee your cdi is shorted like mine (looking at the wirind diagram). Hope this helps...best thing to do is swap cdi's and you will know instantly! Also check orange/black wires going into the coil...but sounds like a shorting issue.

when i got the bike it had a problem with it bogging, the guy before me thoguht it was the cdi so he bought a new one and put it on, well come to find out it wasnt the cdi, and ended up being the stator. So know that i have a extra cdi, i will try the old one
