I need some OPINIONS

It is very common for quads to come without a title. Most state do not even require a title for a quad. Hell I own 7 quads and I think I have titles for 4 of them. It is a matter of what quad you like better. I am not a YFZ fan so I would do the trade but it is really up to the kind of riding you do. The yfz is a better woods and trails bike but I think the Banshee is a more fun all around bike myself.

OK, sounds like you've got it all figured out.

No I'm not saying your wrong I'm just saying its easy to loose a title and my bikes not reported stolen so I'm not worried but yeah buying bikes without a title can be a roll of the dice I just took the gamble

I offered up FREE information that is REAL. I couldn't care less what all you do. It doesn't change the facts. Do what you will….but I'll comment on these statements so you don't convince others that the facts are unimportant….

so next time i go ride i can claim that everyone in that area stole my ( insert bikes here) and then the cops will confiscate every single one of them.

If you "Claim" to police, that someone is riding a stolen bike……The cops will investigate. That will involve them asking the current holder of the bike to show them a title. Without a title there is a 50% chance they confiscate the machine and a 100% chance that if they do, it won't get returned since that person has not title.

If the machine never leaves your possession you have a 50% chance of keeping it. But Cam….If you have no title, and I roll your bike into the bed of my truck while 10 of your friends WATCH ME DO IT…you are no longer in possession of it and to get it back WILL REQUIRE A TITLE.

If you "Claim" to police, that someone STOLE your machine and identify the bike as yours……100% chance it gets confiscated till someone shows a title. If neither of you can….sold at public auction!

None of my friends have titles... It's common just to have a bill of sale with quads and dirtbikes I don't think I'm gunna loose my bike they'd probably charge the origional owner not me...

NONE of your friends OWN quads in the eyes of the law……It's common for people to be sheep and assume since everyone does it, it's fine. (Hell…everyone I know speeds…that don't mean I'm not going to get a ticket!)

A bill of sale does NOT prove ownership. It is a piece of paper that protects you from the previous owner claiming you still owe money on the transaction. It is NOT seen as evidence of proof of sale. It's simply a private version of a release of lien.

No…It's very common for people to NOT take the "Bill of Origin" that they are given from a dealership and use it to get a title generated from the state because the state charge fees and sometimes taxes on the sale at that point. It even more common for people to skip the title transfer process to save on fees.

If you think your state doesn't do tiles for ATV's….clearly post that statement  as well as your state and I'll easily prove you wrong with just a few mouse clicks…...

Only because he said what you wanted to hear. But he's mistaken as are you.

Hey, come buy a machine or a frame from me. I have the title…but I'll just tell you I lost it and we'll do a bill of sale. Next season I'll list the bike as stolen and we'll see if your "Bill of sale" has more value in the eyes of the court than my

"Registered Title". When the cops pick up the machine….I'll get all the nice parts you put on it for me!  ;)

Regardless of any dreamt up situation…..without a title…you don't OWN your machine. Your just in possession of it. Think about that when you drop $5,000 in upgrades and realize that ANYTHING attached to that frame goes with for the ride if the cops take it for any reason…….. :shrugani:

in michigan anyways wich looks like you are in also. You have a police officer come to your house and look at the bike. he runs the Vin and if it comes back not stolen and no lean listed. he writes you out a certificate. you take that to SoS and show that to them and fill out a form to certify ownership. they issue you a bonded title then mail you a real title in about 30 days

you can run a vin check online to see before hand. It cost about 30 do so wich allowed me to run unlimited vin#s for 30 days, if its just a lean you can contact the lean holder and being the lean will be so old they will probably sign off on it. if its stolen they will definitely confiscate it immediately obviously.  so far 3 bikes i ran a check on, 1988, 1989, 2000 came back as never registered/titled since the original owner never took the certificate of origin and had a title produced so they could avoid paying the sales tax i assume.
