JasonsBanshee
I bought 8mm Taylor wires for my stock coil. I’ve tried to search to see what people say about them, but have come up with very little to no results. Here’s the concern. When I pulled my stock wires out of the coil, I noticed that the center prong inside the coil penetrates up into the wire, making for a very nice connection. I’ve greased the new wire and shoved it in the hole, but no matter how much twisting and pushing I do, I can’t get the prong to penetrate up into the plug wire. It’s definitely touching it, but It’s not penetrating like I’d think it should. So at this point, I’ve pushed it in as far as I can get it, zipped tied the wires to the coil and siliconed the wires to keep dirt/water out. I’m hoping this is okay, but I don’t have much faith in the reliability of this. What do you guys think? Please don’t say “go get some Nology wires", because I already know that’s an option but being that I dropped a good amount of money on these Taylor Wires, I’d like to at least give them a shot. locogato11283
I've never run anything but OEM coils and wires. They're cheap and reliable. Why mess with it?

Tyler, I was actually hoping you’d chime in because in my searches I saw where it says you have ran Taylor Wires? http://bansheehq.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=44881 (post #4) I changed them because Jeff at FAST suggested it. In the past I’ve had luck with just swapping out plug caps. Maybe I should’ve stuck with this?
locogato11283
Yea, they worked. Total fucking hassle to deal with them. I never trusted those things. It's far easier and cheaper for me to swap the whole coil out.
JasonsBanshee
Thanks man. I'll just go buy another coil. Nothing like throwing money to the wind. Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk
ATVridinMaNiAc
Not for a banshee but I've ran Taylor in a car and I have a set with a harley seems to be good quality no problems. Sent from my MB886 using Tapatalk
Nieskes
I run the 10.4mm on my truck, they are great wires but dont let them get to hot! I would suggest just getting a dyna coil, the wires just pug into terminals on the coil. They run the same terminals as most cars/truck so this makes it very easy to replace wires if something would happen to them. JasonsBanshee
Jason did you get them to work/ Run? First complaint ive heard out of hundreds sold/used.. Call me if your still having issues. Hell, send them back i will use them on the next build and give you a credit ! Call/pm me Yea, they work. Well the bike fires up and runs. This certainly isn't a complaint. I was simply asking the same thing I asked you in an email about the prong in the coil penetrating the center wire of the spark plug wire. I don't want you to think I was throwing you under the bus, because I wasn't at all. I wouldn't drop the amount of money I do with you if I didn't trust you. In your email response you said that you guys measure, grease the wire ends, push/twist it in, silicone it, zip tie it and go. That's exactly what I did, but the wire simply won't go over the prong in the coil. I'm not some weak little child with no ass and no matter how much I twist/push on the plug wire, the center prong in the coil isn't penetrating the plug wire. The plug wire is too flimsy and pliable to put any real ass behind. It's touching, therefore it's running, but I am concerned about the reliability of it which is why I emailed you and posted here. It would seem that the plug wire would need a better connection than just butted up against the prong. The last thing I want is to drive 14 hours to Little Sahara and my bike fail because of spark plug wires. Once the weather breaks and the fields dry up, I'll get it out and test on it. I am confident that it'll be just fine because you've never steered me wrong, but I wanted to see what others thought too.
dave5.0
Could you use a pick a pre poke the hole in the wire then shove it in there?
camatv
i did this on an mx bike about 15 years ago. just shove them in as far as they will go, silicone, then zip tye if you feel necessary. most times anymore its not necessary because the caps are what usually fails. if i rember right the taylor wires have more internal resistance than a steel core setup, ( measured by the foot) but the taylor cap has no resistance built in. either way the taylor wires we ran worked just fine. the guy's bike i did this on was so cheap that when his stock basket exploded he actually just got another used stock basket from a hinson conversion i did and tapped the back of it for screw's! Zillaguy
I had some bulk 8mm Taylor Spiro-core wire, and some MSD 90 degree plug ends on hand... So, I made a set of wires for my bike about 2 years ago, and have not had one problem.... I di-electric greased the wires and pushed them in... I reused the original plug wire retainer, and put it on the new wires so I did not need zip ties... The wires fit tight and don't pull out... All in all it cost me $12 to make the wires..
