I live up here in alaska I'm 0-500 feet where I will be riding, last summer I had it over bored with new wiesco pistons top end, and put trinity stage 4 pipes through it and took the air box lid off .... When it was stock bike ran great till I did the mods . I have not done a leak down tester I am getting one today.

ATVridinMaNiAc
Air leak sounds like unless its ignition related. Bad stator or something. Sent from my MB886 using Tapatalk
sheerider11
Check if you burnt your harness on the pipe. I did that and it popped and one last back fire took out my reeds
willaduncan
when doing the leakdown test have a spray bottle with soap and water, if your gauge shows you have a leak spray the soapy water around your seals and gaskets it will blow bubbles.. any time you tear into the motor you should do a compression test and a leakdown Edited February 19, 2014 by willaduncan
willaduncan
bad stator wouldn't cause back firing.. ijs
ATVridinMaNiAc
Bad stator will definitely backfire. If there is Insufficient spark on one side unburnt fuel will cause a backfire. Usually if it was a stator it would break down in the higher rpm I would imagine but you never know. Reeds are another thing I would definitely check. They'll do shit like that if the petals are cracked or have way too much gap they'll suck excessive air. Aside from that could be a pilot circuit issue or slides in backwards or fucked up just giving you some ideas.
