RadarRacing
One or more pistons put in with the windows facing the exhaust , not the intake? They will start and not rev and spit like hell out the pipes.
Strm Trpr
Yes, the piston windows must face the intake...
chrispy56
And the arrow on the top of the pistons point forward/toward exhaust
chrispy56
That's maybe a tad high on the squish but doesn't explain your low PSI. Did you kick it over at WOT until the gauge stopped moving? What was the ring end gap? Was it bored at a machine shop that had the pistons on hand to measure? Was it honed? Double checked end gap and they all fall between.017" and .019"
chrispy56
Does the condition of these pistons indicate anything to you guys? I have never seen this before.
sheerider11
Yeah the right side isn't firing or may have a coolant leak. That "design" is known as piston wash. You can see the design of the ports and. How the fresh air fuel charge washes away carbon. Now with the right side, you can see there's no carbon. Coolant is very good piston cleaner. As well as un-burnt fuel. I can't make out what's on the back of the left piston. But your defiantly not firing on the right side for one reason or another. camatv
you got some gremlins.. very strage to have that low of comp even on a non broke in motor. thats probably why the cyl is not firing very weak comp but usually on a 60 lbs motor kicking they wont start without a pull. anything less than 100 and they get hard to start. chrispy56
Reassembled cylinders and head. Borrowed a different compression gauge. Compression reads 135 in each cylinder.

chrispy56
Rechecked the flywheel. No rattle or any sound of loose parts within...can a flywheel still be bad if it passes "the shake test"?

kennygene
Maybe you have a fuel issue? Do you have any other carbs you could throw on it?
