Man-O-Steele
nice cover tyler. did you decide to go without the window to be different or because of durability?
locogato11283
I like the clear ones but I've cracked them before. I thought I'd do something this time.
special06shee
That mattoon cover just looks tuff! Wish i could think of a reason to NEED one.
RagunCajun
Unfortunately not all CNC programmers are equal. As a quality cotrol inspector in 2 big machine shops and a former CNC machinist, i agree. Also no two machinist are equal. IMO it probably comes down to design, not the programming since it was programmed to the print. I decided to run my stock cover with my lock up. May look into the matoon and powder coat it black in the distant future. I prefer the stock cover OEM look.
WINDYCITYJOHN400
Stock covers only work if you're running a slingshot lock-up. Arm style require a "Lockup cover"
RagunCajun
Yup. I should of mentioned that. Thanks
trickedcarbine
On that note, do those old school 8-10 plate style modified stock covers allow quick access to the plate on a sling shot?
87sheerips
ModQuad runs an entire company with that mentality. Unfortunately not all CNC programmers are equal. It's more important that the end product WORKS good rather than LOOK good. My ModQuad stator cover required major "Mods" to get the clearance needed for an advanced timing plate. Too many companies think they can copy others and succeed, yet use lesser quality aluminum or no quality control. Lesser quality aluminum as in a lesser grade? Yea, if the shoe don't fit then its garbage. If I were in the market, I would buy mattoon, but besides extra reinforcments that mattoon may have, aluminum is aluminum if they are both using the same grade i.e. 6062, 5051, 3003 whatever. One cant be THAT much better than the other. edit: as far as strength. The Mattoon looks 8000x better without a doubt.

locogato11283
OEM vs. Mattoon. No internals. Both have covers and dipsticks.
