chasvit
Im having a problem with a 2002 Banshee I just bought. Ive ridden it a couple of times and keep having the same problem. When I take the bike out of neutral into first there is a really large dead spot in the RPMs. I feel almost like I'm 1/4 through the gear before it grabs and makes any kind of acceleration. It wants to move but it sounds like its gonna spitter out and stall. This problem happens through at least forth gear (thats all Ive had it up to thus far). It feels like the engine isn't getting enough air and its choking itself. Ive cleaned out the air filter and Im still having problems. I need that low speed because I do a lot of trail riding. Thanks for the input.
Starwriter
Compression test, leakdown test, clean carbs make sure choke tube is between carbs, slides in the correct sides, bowls on the correct sides, and check to see what jets are in the carbs. Buy a Clymer manual and do lots of reading on BHQ.
Larry's Shee
X-2 ^^^ If you are used to a 4poke, that's the problem. Wind that bitch out and let it scream. Banshees don't have much/any bottom end, and porting/pipes changes that. What do you have for mods?
Atomic Monkey
Do you have the TORS removed? I do and was having the same problem with mine when I first got it. The things that made it better was syncing the carbs and adjusting the low speed jetting. In my case it was running too lean until the main came in. b.rich108
I had a very similar problem. I got a tusk clutch kit for about $45 and it solved the issue. Your clutch might be on its way out.
