n2otoofast4u
Most of these slap dicks are going to leave you all over the map. AR's (or any other gun for that matter) are just like banshees. Its all about what you can afford versus what your needs are. If its your first Id highly recommend a 223/556 caliber for the simple fact that mags are everywhere and you will have a very large knowledge base behind them. From there you need to ask yourself a few questions. 1- is this a mall shooter where a shorter barrel is ok or are you looking to shoot some longer distance and a longer barrel is better suited 2- how may rounds do you intend to shoot? If your a reloader and going to punish the gun for thousands of rounds a month than a billet lower would probably be better. If its just a here and there toy than a less expensive lower will work great. 3- optics and accessories. Are you wanting a scope included, or maybe a laser or light? From there pick what's important to YOU and buy one that fits in your price. They are fun guns for sure. And just like banshees you will soon be upgrading and changing parts!

05stroker
There's no reason for a civilian to own a AR15. Why? It's just a semi - automatic rifle in tactical form. Sent from my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk

BAMF87
Buy what you can afford. If it's a cheaper one stake the bolt and castle nut then shoot the hell out of it. You could build a nice one under a grand look at bravocompanyusa. Also save for a decent optic, I like aimpoint for a Red dot and eotech is ok also. The rock river arms are a good gun for the price. If you can sad a few extra get a colt it'll last forever. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Abe
Picked up the Colt with all the mag pul stuff for $1040 at my local gun shop. Pretty satisfied with price considering a standard model at Walmart was $1100
