No spark

I own a 1987 Banshee. The bottom end rod bearing gave out on me so I decided to just buy a complete motor, something newer. I got a motor from a 2005 Shee and slapped it in the frame. I noticed the stator harness was different so I swapped the stator from my 87 motor. Put oil, anti-freeze, and fuel in and kicked the shit out of it. Pullled a plug and found I was getting no spark. Tested the stator and got all the rights resistances. Tested the coil and got .6 ohms on the primary side and 5.6k ohms on the secondary(plug cap to plug cap). I have tested the voltage out of the stator and i get around 3 volts between the yellow and black wire when i kick it over. Do you think its the CDI box at this point. I don't have a spare to test with and don't want to buy a new one if thats not the reason. Also when i had the motor out I spray painted the frame but didn't take any of the components off, just tapped them. I don't know what to do next. Any suggestions? Thanks. By the way the Tors has been removed

Sorry I'm new to the site. Just thought if I had it under two categories I'd get more help. So I ran a ground wire from my frame to the engine. Still no spark. Is there a way to test for voltage from the stator? I have the stator that came with the motor but I would have to hard wire it

will i dont have m manual sitting in my lap or near me at the moment but im pretty sure coil should not test over .560 not below 42 but i cant remember i will get actual number to you tomorrow and the stator can be good but the pickup could be bad which sends the electricty to rest of the body. the gap between the stator and the pickup needs to be .020

Stator and coil sound like they are in check. X2 on the pickup gap, .020. If you have a key switch, have you tested its operation? Make sure you have an open and closed circuit when you rotate it - I had an old style key switch work backwards once (off=on and on=off) and it threw me for a loop. If thats ok next  check the engine kill switch - make sure it is functioning properly. If that checks out test your harness again...it is very easy to overlook a ground wire or broken ignition wire. Continuity tests should be able to perform all of these checks for you.

Good Luck!

damnit did not mean to send that yet

ignition coil

primary + to orange or right as you face - to black .28-.38 above or below junk

secondary + to spark plug wire - to black or left terminal 4,700- 7,100

all of these to be tested with motor off
