tommo
hey , my shee is prettymuch stock with 20 inch dominators on the rear and i got a 13 tooth front sprocket instead of the 14, i was just wondering what the good /bad affects of this could be? thanks

The 13 will give you even more tire spin = less traction. You'll spend more time shifting then anything else..The shee has plenty of torque, let it pull. fixitrod
I agree completly. I tried that and I had to shift all the time and it reved out in gear so fast, it just didn't pull. Go bigger on the front and you'll see... it feels like it pulls harder... longer.
Wassup350
I'd say leave it alone if your gonna be riding tight trails. If you have nice wide open trails to ride on go with a bigger front sprocket. Ive got a higher front sprocket and the only places it hurts me is through tight fits and over logs and stuff but you just have to play around with the clutch a little bit. 364rocket
i tried the smaller front sprocket also and found that you are gonna be shifting like a mother it actually gets to be annoying i now run a 15/42 and i love it on the trails i think that if you are having trouble with bottom end power then you need to address the other issues rather than gearing start with compresion, possibly a shorter swingarm and single carb or low end pipes will help you more but it all depends on your riding type
Justintoxicated
Well I have other feelings about the 13 tooth sprocket. After adding pipes I lowered the front a tooth to a 13 for glamis, I like it much better than the stock 14 tooth for hill shooting up the steeper hills. Like the steeper part of olds, the 13 tooth allowed me into 4th gear while with the 14 tooth I just couldent quite hit fourth because it would lose too much power.... 364rocket
Justintoxicated This is exactly the point i was getting at that it all depends on what type of riding you do i should have mentioned that when I went to Little Sahara that i put a 13 tooth on after about a half hour the sand takes alot of power to get goin in
Blue Duece
i was gonna ask where your riding also, a 13 is completely usless unless your in sand and if in dirt might as well go with a 15......
Banchetta
I was gonna address that also, but he said he had 20" dominators, not sand tires......I agree w/ the sand tires though, they do rob hp and have more drag. Depending on how many paddles and how much ponies you have will alter the gearing a lot. For dirt, grass, sand, and mud w/ knobby tires, defanitely get a 15 tooth.. tommo
i ride in mostly sand dunes but sometimes trails . i have kenda dominatrs on the rear. from your replies it sounds like i should stick with the 14 . are there any cheap ways to increase bottom end? Leadfoot350
with 20 inch tires go with a 13 in the sand with a piped motor. When you get porting done go with a
BansheeBrian
I have tried a 15 tooth and It make the shee so freakin jumpy. The thing lunges hard when it hits powerband. I like the 13 for hillshooting for the stronger 3rd gear top end. First gear seems like a waste of time with a 13 tooth. Wonder what a 16 tooth will do to 2nd gear?Hmmmmm. Streachhhhhhh. Streachhhhhhh. depends on your motor , unless you have ALOT of power i dont think you are going to want to go with a 16 front if you do hill climbs and such. that will raise you gear ration to like 2.563, thats not that high but its higher than the stock 2.929. but then i am assuming that you are running a 41 rear sprocket. and you know what they say about assuming
ledofthezep
The least of my problems right now.hehe But I'm still running 13/41 gearing with a -2 swingarm! I have no complaints...I seldom get beat in the drags or just screwing around racing unless I'm line'n up with the big boys & their alky/nos shees....then I have my ass handed to me along with all the other average joes! I don't think I shift too much, I must just be used to it & have adapted. I may try different gearing, but I think shee's fine they way it is so I may not. Since they are not too hard to change you could get one and play around with it, especialy if you planning on getting sand tires soon.
