Young Guns Racing
It seems my oof pipes thread may be too long so anyhow I have started this to get a more direct response. Ive siccessfully made two oof drag pipes, with that being said instead of my header pipe being about 10 sections welded together I've thought about how to produce it with only two halves to make a solid smoother section. With that being said I have no idea how to incorporate the bends...any ideas guys? While we are at it I may have misunderstood an earlier post. Jds customs said they could laser cut me some stamps? I thought it would just be a brand name stamp but perhaps he meant "metal castings" or "press dies" ? If you see this jd please let me know lol I been thinkin about it all day. Thanks for reading and thanks to everyone for the support and advice
Finch
good luck only way to really do it that way is to stamp or press them with a die
Coupelx
cut weld and inflate with a powerwasher.
wayne_smith97
We stamp stuff like that everyday at work and I have seen it done a few different ways but none of which seem affordable. We use a 300 ton press for stuff like that but our dies aren't just blank forming they are several station progressive dies. If jd could laser cut a blank form die(single station die) it could be rather inexpensive considering that it would be a die. It's hard to say what size press you would need just because die design determines that. I have been to some shops that have made their own hydraulic presses for less than a thousand dollars. If your interested in how let me know and I will explain how they did it
Young Guns Racing
cut weld and inflate with a powerwasher. Already thought about hydro forming. It never seems to leave that "perfect" shape and seems like for myself its just not worth the effort. I thought I would need some press dies, hopefully jd can help me out lol I will contact him. Meanwhile, let me know what other ideas you all might have

I'd love to able to produce these if hp numbers are decent

trickedcarbine
^that But hydro forming is really the easiest route if you can't get access to a press.
vulvafan537240
Handconed pipes look killer IMO. I'd leave it at that.
hoppedupandcutdown
Handconed pipes look killer IMO. I'd leave it at that. I agree. Could you us a mandrel bent store bought U-bend? buy one the diameter of the large end and cut a pie wedge out of it length wise, to make the other end the smaller diameter? Young Guns Racing
Would be difficult to find a bought mandrel the correct size. I'm just trying to think ahead for production if I actually sell these. I wouldn't want to take a 3-5 days to produce a set of pipes. If I could stamp the head pipes, I could probably do 2 - 4 sets in a day
Zillaguy
Custom mandrel bend them yourself... Mandrel bends are the cleanest looking by far.... PFR in Cali. made me a few custom hand coned pipes for old Maico and RZ 500 projects i did... They had a mandrel bent header tube on every pipe Eric ever made for me. Young Guns Racing
I have a friend with a mandrel tubing bender I could possibly try. I don't want any creases or folds in the pipe if I can help it. Would they bend a tapered pipe clean like what u think I am looking for?
