bacons-banshee
I have a 2003 banshee that I picked up 3 weeks ago. It didnt run when I got it but after simply cleaning the carbs it was running great. Yesterday I acquired another banshee, this one being a 1994 fully built bike. It also would not start so I swapped my carbs from the 2003 to the 1994 and still no start so swapped them back and now the 2003 will not start (seems like it has no spark at all with brand new NGK br8es plugs. I check the pickup gap and it was way off so I gapped it to .015 as I read that is the recommendation and still no spark. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Both bikes will pull start and run for about 2-3 seconds before the stall out.
ETR174
Does it have fresh mixed fuel? Does it have TORS? What condition is the air filter in? Sent from my LG-LS970 using Tapatalk
bacons-banshee
Freshly Mixed fuel, Tors was deleted when I got it and I had to clean up a lot of wires that they didnt know what to do with, Air filters are clean K&N filters with outter filters also, I have tried just the filters and no filters and still no start. Not to be mean or anything but did you look at a stock electrical diagram and connect everything back the way it was meant to be? Also is the TORS wires deleted from the electrical system? hoppedupandcutdown
I had to clean up a lot of wires that they didnt know what to do with You do know that the key switch wires have to be tied together to run, right? A lot of folks do a little to good of a job cleaning up wires.
n2otoofast4u
cross over tube
bacons-banshee
I used a diagram and did the best I could possibly do restoring it back to original. After doing all the wiring I rode the atv for over a week before taking the carbs off to try them on the 1994 banshee. I have a toggle on off for the headlights and a momentary for the kill switch which I currently have disconnected
hoppedupandcutdown
I assumed since you rode it since you cleaned the carbs you would know about the rubber crossover tube, still there right? also, slides in the proper cabs? did you change anything else from running to not running? bacons-banshee
Yeah, the crossover tube is there, the slides are in the right carbs ( I know because I put them in the wrong carbs and they were completely closed lol. hoppedupandcutdown
Check the black and orange wires on the coil, sometimes they get yanked off when you're jacking with carbs.
bacons-banshee
Coil wires were checked, also checked the pickup gap and it was set way out so I fixed that and cleaned the connections on the flywheel but still no spark. wondering if there is a way to check the pickup
hoppedupandcutdown
So, all you did was swap carbs and now you're not getting spark?
bacons-banshee
yes, I swapped carbs with the 1994 and now I have no spark, makes no sense but thats all I did. I believe it was just a coincidence and something else is now wrong with it
hoppedupandcutdown
I've had cars do similar shit, ended up being a broken wire inside the insulation. Hard to find but not impossible. Got an Ohm meter?
bacons-banshee
Yeah I have an ohm meter, I was trying to look up how to start testing stuff but not very much direction so far
