sprinklerman
That's the first time I've heard that I think. I thought the plastic/nylon or whatever stock ones came apart? What do stock ones cost?<br />I've talked to a few builders about and most of them have no problem recommending stock impellers. Most failures can be attributed to something CAUSING the impeller to fail. Usually over extended service interval or other issues causing repeated overheating (jetting etc etc). Not knocking billet impellers. .just think the OEM ones get a bad reputation unnecessarily.
sheerider11
I can show you my F'd up pro design. There is huge grooves warn into the shaft from the seal, and I guess that started to take out the rest. The thing started to wear on the fins and come apart. Now luckily when I had my motor at my builders, he noticed and threw in a stocker
2004LEBanshee
Prodesign style fins and stock shaft. Best setup
chuck81673
I called Brandon on Saturday and left a message regarding a billet shift star and detent bearing. He promptly returned my call today. Real nice guy to talk with and spent a half hour answering my questions and explaining his products. Maybe just give him a call again and leave a message. trickedcarbine
Mull is good stuff and Brandon Is usually helpful, but I think the banshee thing is secondary to their other manufacturing. OP, need an impeller now..... Chariot usually seems to have bad ass stuff for killer prices. Get it on eBay and you are supporting a sponsor. WINDYCITYJOHN400
Hasn't the stock actually been proven to be better? No. I won't run a stock one ever again. Billet is better.
ATVridinMaNiAc
The billet shafts do crap out after a while, grooves get worn into the shaft and will eventually be bad enough to leak coolant.I wish mull had there shafts in stock again. Billet impeller on stock shaft lasts way longer. I have bought their shift detent kit though, Nice stuff. dave5.0
Wonder if a PD impeller can be used on a stock shaft?
locogato11283
I'm pretty sure Mull designed a better shaft for these too.

I had the guys working things out today to get these back in stock ASAP. had a few growing pains earlier in the year but I will have to shoulder the blame here. Yes indeedee, our shaft is nothing like the stainless shafts in other pumps. We identified all the issues with the factory pumps and other aftermarkets and set out to build a superior product. I feel we did that but gotta work harder to keep them in stock. IMO, our pump is better, our shaft is stronger harder, and has an infused surface treatment to lubricate the seal. We also discussed some test procedures for our pumps that we can televise the performance. Sometimes you just need to see them in action to see the competitor's product eat crow. I will admit every pump on the market will move water, but how much and at what head pressure? How much power to run it? Pumping water ain't free. It certainly sucks a little off the tit! I will push on this harder to get you guys going. Brandon Mull Engineering
blowit
Wonder if a PD impeller can be used on a stock shaft? Nope. Some here probably remember that we originally designed our pump head to mate to the factory shaft because we acknowledged the OEM shaft was just better. The OE shaft has a spline end. Unfortunately we started getting a flood of calls wanting a shaft because their PD pump was grooved beyond belief. We had no choice but to make a total replacement deal. sleeper06
To all you guys that say billet is better, better in what aspect, I built about 25 motors this year not 1 billet shaft came out looking good some after only a year in service. Does the billet move more water I have no idea, but real world experiance on what lasts longer stock it is. Do I personally run a billet impeller yes I do without issues. I have also seen billet shafts get wobbly and start carving out lockup covers and causing overheating issues due to lack of flow. I too have been waiting on brandon to finish these up as a better option , after dealing with him for all my head needs im sure this product will be great
Whitbread
Glad to hear you're getting these going again Brandon, I've been waiting to order a gear and pump from you since the summer. My stock parts are trashed so no point in putting stock stuff back in.
Strm Trpr
Yes, please let us know either here or link to a new thread when the pump will be available again.
willaduncan
I know im not a seasoned builder like most of the guys on here but I will say my last bottom end rebuild I opened up the water pump and the stock fins felt like cardboard and had been tearing away causing there to be trash in the coolant and trash keeping the impeller from spinning freely I had to literally dig the stock impeller out with a flat head. I replaced it with a chariot performance impeller due to mull being out of stock... Im not saying the stock impellers are bad because I have NO IDEA how long it had been in there but if I were to guess I would say upwards of 8 years, but I will say metal will not break down like that. I'm sure like previously stated the stockers are good IF you replace them every so often but I decided to go aftermarket
