sheerox
The original owner had this port job done. I was wondering if any of you guys could maybe classify it from looking at pictures? I can send better pictures if needed. I am the third owner and the middleman didn't know much of anything except it ran like crap.First thing i did, when i bought it, was take it to a quad racing/machine shop. The machinists said it was egged a little so he went ahead and bored it .20 over from stock which would be 64.50 correct? The labels on the cast pistons(pro-x) he ordered say 64.25 and the 795's Wiseco's (forged i believe) i just got in the mail for my 115 crank are 64.50( i never checked the pro-x piston labels to make sure after he told me he bored it .20 over). He mentioned that it had port work done to it, but no specifics and at the time i was uneducated and unaware of the different types of port-jobs (trail, dune, etc) or i would've ask more questions. This same machinists also sold me a Cool-head with 18cc domes that had my quad running around 155 compression without mentioning the detonation thingy octane stuff. Guess that was beginners luck.(nothing happened) I would ask his opinion but I'd rather ask the forum till i get a few recommendations to a local machine shop.I don't really want to ship anything off if i can get it done locally. I have 2 more questions for any readers who are kind enough to donate me more time: Question1. I bought the stroker-cut domes but will I still have to get the ports corrected or will the aforementioned port job (in the pictures also) suffice? Question 2: Will the 64.50- (795 longrod specific piston) Wiseco's work in cylinders that previously had 64.25 cast pistons? I read that forged piston have more clearance. sleeper06
I dont see pics at all but unfortunately without measuring ports myself its hard to t tell you if that stroker is gonna work if I had to guess its not gonna work due to the fact your static compression is so low with 18cc domes in it, sounds like its ported more than u think
Jereme6655
1) Never take your stuff there again.....that guy sounds like a complete moron. 2) Why is everyone always say "id rather get the stuff done locally".....obviously your local guys are idiots and are going to blow your money for you......and leave you with a garbage machine....take the time, send it out and get it done right by people that are RECOMMENDED TO YOU. 3) No....you cannot just slap in forged pistons......well you could but I guarantee you it will lock up on you within minutes. Cast pistons and Forged pistons take way different piston to wall tolerances. 4) You say it wasn't detonating......but are you sure? Its a 2stroke...the deto sound isn't as obvious as on a 4 stroke engine. also.....IF YOU SEND THOSE CYLINDERS OUT TO SOMEONE WE RECOMMEND.....chances are they can answer every question you have, along with set you up with what you NEED before you NEED to rebuild your bike AGAIN. DO SHIT RIGHT THE FIRST TIME....its cheaper.
m671054
You stated you had long rod crank and piston but never said what stroke. then asked about stroker domes. are you changing from lr to 4mil? why would a 64.5 piston fit in a 64.25 hole? you need to do some measuring or send it to a banshee specialist

joey83
Send it off.. You have so many questions something is going to be wrong. 18cc domes and only 150 psi compression doesnt really add up. Either something is wrong or the port job is hogged out. Send it out.
