sheerider11
Has anyone seen a backing plate warp like this? I went to change the bushings and noticed wen I took it off. Is that a normal Hinson thing? Or is there something wrong?

sheerider11
pretty sweet. it happens get a new oneWhere can I get one? I was just on Hinsons website, all I found was plates for 450s. I couldn't get a site for magnum, just there eBay store. I attempted to drill an oem one once. My father took it to his shop and burned up a bit getting it done. I'm gonna call a few sponsors tomorrow and see what I can get

Starwriter
Definitely Mattoon. Better plate, better cushions, bigger bolts. http://www.ebay.com/itm/BANSHEE-CLUTCH-BASKET-BACKING-PLATE-CUSHION-KIT-DRAG-By-Mattoon-Machine-/321270617309?pt=Motors_ATV_Parts_Accessories&hash=item4acd3894dd&vxp=mtr
locogato11283
JDS, didn't he make one for tyler in the past? Yes. The aluminum ones don't work! That's what blew apart at the BansheeHQ ride this year. I know Redline has the heavy duty backing plates. He also recommends upgrading to bigger screws. They warp from heat and the cushions pushing against them. I'd just call Redline and get the good stuff.

locogato11283
He could always make it out of SS? I have a couple stainless ones from JD. I haven't used them.

He pulled it off a floater he had in the shop. He explained why the Hinson backing plates do what they do. So I got a HD one, HD cushions, and bigger bolts. Now I'm worried about the one in my bike. 2004LEBanshee
Mattoon. Heavy ass plate. Stiff bushings and big ass screws. G/l.
camatv
the mattoon is the only one i have had decent luck with on a 4 bolt basket. the hinson and most other std style baskets are realy only good for about 75hp. anything more or even just a lot of clutch bashing ( drag racing) will cause the warped backing plate. stock oem backing plates are very very hard. i used to drill them out and re grind them then use larger bolts in existing baskets. THEN i got a matton basket and asked if i could get just the bolts cusions and a backing plate theirs is very thick and cromoly. now after my suggestion they offer the backing plate set in a "kit" you can use them on any existing basket, after drilling and taping for the bigger bolts. OR if you need just buy the mattoon anodized basket from the get go.
m671054
So whats the best non std style basket? not looking for a 10plate but it will need to hold way more than 75hp
