Ya what he said. If that's the case it's prob lean or real close. Especially if you take the airbox lid off. Then really will be when your nuts drop and daddy puts some pipes on it for you.

Pipes?

That's what my dad said. I don't know anything g yet about exactly what the jets are so I'll have to wait until I get the TORS eliminator kit so me and my dad take the carb apart and clean it out. I'm also going to buy new reeds if it needs it.

:shrugani: Two weeks and you still haven't posted what jets you have. List both main and pilot size..

Nor have you cleaned the excess oil from filter.

Leak-down test.

X-99 on different filter.

Take your time tapping the slide screws in the carbs. 3/4 turn in then back tap out 1/2 turn to break chips out. Be sure to file carb side down for lock nut to seat. Should be a sticky on how to do it plus that U-tube. Clean carbs well afterwards to remove chips. Do one carb at a time as slides and bowls are different.

Right now you will need a 320-330 main, in August you'll need 290-300.

DO NOT ride it right now with out proper jetting, you will burn the motor up in two minutes. Hell, I wouldn't even start it and rev it in the garage. It was below zero in your hood this morn, -20 for me.

as mentioned read the manual, presumeing you are talking  Yamaha service manual, not just owners manual. Read threads on this site, lots to learn from just reading.

FYI, do not use castor bean oil in temps below 40*F

sabahy9u.jpg As you can see I just got my TORS Eliminator kit in the mail. I'm ordering 2 Carb rebuild kits and a Plano tub full of jets. Me and my dad are going to take it apart sometimes this weekend and I might possibly need new reeds. That reminds me, has anyone ever used Boyesen Power Reeds before?

So my dad told me to take the plastics off and let them on the bike but take the screws out because were going to install the kit soon. I got some stripped pics though :)6anetyby.jpguhesaja8.jpg9uhubaja.jpg

Also a big way i have learned to tell how my bike is running is reading the plugs you want a chocolate color, black is rich, an ashy color or gray/white is lean also 50:1 is ok as long as ur running amsoil dominator thats what has been run through my bike since it was bought in 1999 with very little problems

Sorry for responding so late but my Shee does turn the spark plugs black and for them out FAST. I spent a whole week last year at the dunes with it and the last small ride to the truck one of the plugs fouled put and we had no spare plugs so I had to run on 1 cylinder and it was lacking lots of power.

:Clue: lots of questions still unanswered, must not be in much of a hurry :rotflmao:

Like what questions? Me and my dad are supposed to work on it soon. Pretty much all I'm able to do is put on the new grab bar and handlebars I got Sunday.
